This place is a real highlight in Shockoe Bottom. It’s walking distance from the train station, and their drinks and pastries are well made and delicious. The vibes inside are excellent, with a variety of couches and chairs and an old shoe shine stand for seating.
Wow!!!! Barista works magic here. Wonderful place and great coffee and pastries. Try the apple cider donut. They need to label that with a bomb symbol. It's scrumptious. Will be back.
Love this coffee establishment! It’s an old fire station converted into a coffee shop! Coffee is amazing, food is delicious & dessert was perfection! Every staff in this establishment deserves a raise. They’re not only super patient but they treat you like family and that’s a huge difference. If you see a table available; grab it right away because the place might look empty but it can get packed very quickly! My order: • Iced Latte with Almond Milk- great coffee! • Croissant Breakfast can be shared by two people because it is huge! Croissant was perfectly flaky but greasy. • Tiramisu dessert was delicious but to break it was such a mess. The coffee they use if the same they use for the iced latte. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I had to go to Richmond today to take care of some business. I ran into Ironclad Coffee Roasters for a little breakfast and I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was wonderful and so eclectic. The eggnog latte was delicious and the cherry almond scone was just as good. The servers were very friendly unwelcoming and they do a very good business. They have a very good variety of pastries and baked goods. They have quite a bit of seating and some very comfortable seating on sofas as well. I will be returning every time that I am in Richmond.
A welcome FIVE-STAR coffee and brunch stop in Richmond to break up our drive from North Carolina to Maryland! Located in a historic 1884 fire station, Ironclad Coffee Roasters serves outstanding coffees, creative drinks, and delicious food — from breakfast sandwiches and pastries to bagels and superfood cereal bowls. The firehouse, active until 1952, still showcases its original brick walls, vintage photos, and firefighting artifacts. A highlight is the original shoeshine bench from the Jefferson Hotel — reportedly used by Elvis Presley, Charlie Chaplin, Frank Sinatra, and Presidents Roosevelt and Truman — still in use for shoe shines Friday through Sunday. Bonus: The historic Adam Craig House is right across the street. Tip: If you’re new to Richmond, use GPS to 1805 East Grace Street — it’s tricky to find on your own!
