Charging $105 to provide an estimate is pretty bush league practice. They will not be getting our business.
Wanted to say how great our experiences have been with this company. We've used them a couple of times. Our technician was Louie. Very professional and laid back. He'll do what you ask and do it right. And if you ask questions, He'll tell you his best advice based on his knowledge and experience. But i never felt pressured or like something was being pushed that wasn't needed. My go-to company
I hired Jmac electric to install an EV wall charger (Electrify America Home Station 2) in my new house. TLDR: Jmac Electric postponed the dates repeatedly, installed the device with the wrong size fuse and then never alerted the county to conduct a final inspection until the county reminded them a year later. Do not use this company for electrical work because their quality control and accountability within their organization is abysmal. Blaming your lack of proper accountability on a fired employee is a lazy way of not correcting your business's problems. This is a high voltage electrical component that could damage your house, your car, and cause a fire when you don't do things properly. We pay good money for licensed professionals to do things correctly. Long story: At first I was excited about the install and their company was responsive saying they needed to send out an installer to survey the area and provide me quotes for potential installation locations. Great, simple garage install with electrical panel on the outside of the garage. Shouldn't be a problem, only Jmac took 2+ weeks to send the guy out to inspect. He takes some measurements, and looks at the panel. A few days later I get quotes, they're competitive and I decide on the end of the inside of the garage opposite the electrical panel. Great. Now to actually schedule the install. I keep calling them, but every time I call, they say the "team" is in a meeting and they should let me know immediately after. Never get a call for another 2-3 weeks even with me reminding them at least once a week. Finally, they schedule for the 1st of December. Now I started this process at the end of October to early November. I wouldn't have had an issue with the timeframe but they implied this would only take 2 weeks turnaround not 4-5. The day of the install, the installer arrives and he reviews his notes and states that he is going to put it in the backside of the panel but failed to realize that the back of the panel isn't the location he had pointed out at the end of my garage. I don't know why he took measurements and indicated one location during the consultation and then didn't take accurate measurements. We talk some more and to his credit, he agrees with running a short 3.5-5 foot extension inside my garage to where he originally indicated the outlet would go. So far, so good. He needs an assistant for the work so he calls another associate. No problem, they get going and install the unit. I had read the instructions for the Homestation 2, and mentioned that the device required a 50 amp fuse for the circuit breaker. They finish the install of the outlet and start to leave, I exclaim, "Wait, the install isn't complete, you haven't mounted the unit and tested the outlet"! They say that's not part of the install. Now that's BS, and I tell them they agreed to install an EV wall charger and they need to mount and make sure the unit works with the, surprise, 60 amp circuit they installed. They begrudgingly agree. They mount and plug in the unit, and we review the work. I'm not thrilled with the 60 amp fuse but assume they know something I don't. They finish and say the office will contact me with any final information. He's the ridiculous part, I get told by their office that everything is complete and I'm good to go. I assume that means they got the final inspection from the county and had them review the work in the panel and electrical diagrams. 1 YEAR LATER: The county contacts Jmac saying the inspection was never completed and the valid work permit will be expiring within 2 weeks. I get a call from Jmac asking to schedule the inspection. No explanation. They schedule the inspection, the county inspector looks at the panel and it fails because of the 60 amp fuse and the panel is misaligned which could cause possible arcing between my wall charger and solar array circuit breakers. It's now over 1 year later, the work permit is now expired and Jmac accessed my panel without letting me know to change the fuse. The inspection is still not complete.
Louie was great! He was low key friendly, professional and knew what he was doing. What I needed done wasn't straightforward, but Louie made it work. JMAC Electric is now my go-to place for electrical work on the house. Their prices were reasonable, no stretching out the job to make the bill higher. I appreciate that during this difficult economic time. Thank you, Louie!
Long story short...own a 110 v hot tub that I was able to use for one day. The outlet next to it quit working. Tried to reach the dude that had installed it for me 6 months prior numerous times. No luck and getting pissed at this point. Tub full of water, not working and four days later I decided to get in touch with JMAC rather than wait. I spoke to Ric the project manager and explained the situation. He understood my frustrations and had his tech Mike out here within a few hours to asses the situation. Mike was able to swap the GFI out and fix an interior outlet that was jerry rigged from past electrician. Mike's a military veteran like myself and was very informative, professional and friendly. I'm extremely satisfied all the way around and really appreciate the rapid response. Last but not least, this company honors and respects our great military by offering a military discount. These guy's are superb and will definitely be using them in the near future for all my electrical needs.
