The theater was really good. There doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the house. Parking is kind of iffy so get there early. If you're handicapped you probably need someone to drive you up to the front door and then they can go park because it is on a fairly steep hill and the parking is not near it.
Really cute theater, although its age is showing. The production was wonderful, and we love to support the Uptown Players & Bruce Wood Dance. There is a pay phone downstairs, near the restrooms. (So retro!) I really wish the city would put some money into the grounds and exterior. A coat of paint inside would work wonders, and the sidewalks are overgrown and covered in dirt in several places. There is only one accessible restroom here, & while we saw accessible seating, it looked difficult to me. I don't use a chair, but it would be best to scope it out ahead of time or call someone if you need accommodations, to be sure they're truly usable.
Could not go inside the theater to see Frank Lloyd Wright’s ONLY designed theater. The building from the outside seems to be in disrepair, and needs some TLC. Lines were true to FLW’s work as an architect.
This is the only existing theatre designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and it happens to be in Dallas. It was constructed in 1959 and recognized as a historical landmark in 2007. We saw the spanish guitar player, Andrea Gonzales Caballero, and it was fantastic. I play a lot of guitar myself so I really enjoyed the show. Parking was also very convenient.
Frank Lloyd Wright designed building is fascinating inside and out ( and certified). Spacious lobby accommodates comfy seating and a bar with limited selection of wine, beer and sodas with snacks. Theatre seats are narrow but with plush seats. Bathrooms downstairs may be challenging as no handi-capable access evident.
