Good work but expensive. It was a simple part replacement. I thought I bring the car here because it was closer to home but they charged me $150 more than an estimate I got downtown. Be smarter than I was and insist on an estimate before they do the work.

My 2007 Toyota SUV had over 107,000 miles, and I am the original owner. For several years there was a rattle that seemed to come from both right and front left tire areas, and in addition to this, the ride was not as smooth as before. You could easily feel every bump. In addition, the brakes didn't seem to stop as well as before and felt at times "mushy". I decided to try Kapahulu Auto Repair upon a friend's recommendation. As expected, the car needed new struts, shocks, and a brake job as well as new tie rods and sway bars. In addition, I would, of course, need the tires re-aligned. I was quoted $2600 but in the end it was actually $2300. During this process, Mike kept me informed of the progress of the car. He explained things to me in a manner that I could understand. My car feels like new again. In addition he diagnosed a problem that I did not bring up to him, but one that I've known about for over 15 years: when turning hard to the left (for example turning left hard to get into a parking stall, there was a rhythmic sound and vibration, and sometimes the car felt like it was rolling on square tires. I had brought this up to SERVCO Mapunapuna at that time, but they told me nothing was wrong, and that eventually I might have to replace the entire steering system. Mike said that it was due to a worn plastic piece in the steering column, and that I would have to go to SERVCO to get it fixed since they had the specialized tool to access that area. He even gave me the name of a specific person to seen. In addition, when I called Kapahulu Auto Repair, the phone is answered perhaps within 2 or 3 rings. I am treated like a valued customer there, even though I've never been there before. The shop looks busy, but the workers were friendly and helpful. So, I am very happy with the service as well as pricing. They are a short car trip away. Definitely would use their services again. Addendum. It's now been several months. The car feels like it drives like a brand new car and I've had no issues. Very happy with this.
I've been taking my cars here for years, and the recent service is a prime example of why I'll never go anywhere else. I requested an oil change and a/c recharge. They completed the work the same day and, when I came to pick it up, Mike said he couldn't charge the a/c to his standard and recommended another shop. He didn't charge me for the a/c work, yet when I started run around this week, I found my a/c working fabulously! That's what "sub-stabdard" looks like at Kapahulu Auto Repair. This shop does high quality work at reasonable prices. And you can ALWAYS trust them. I can't think of any better reasons to choose a mechanic!
