Service was lovely and I wish I could’ve gotten her name to leave her a glowing review. She recommended the cochinita pibil pork tacos to us and it was my favourite out of everything ordered. I would definitely come back just for that! I didn’t get a photo of them because it was eaten so fast but I did capture a picture of the quesabirria tacos!

I have no words. Most delectable food I’ve ever eaten in my life EVER. The chefs deserve everything good in the world. I got the quesobirria tacos and I demolished them and my partner got both pork tacos and the beef and they were exquisite as well. Strongly recommend this restaurant!!!

I had been wanting to try La Taqueria for quite some time and it ended up being just an okay experience with some ups and downs. The "ups" first: cool but small seating area with mexican and day of the dead themed deco, I think there were 5 tables. Upon seating are given legit tortilla chips (pictured) that have obviously been fried in house, these are not Tostitos. They come with a huge jug of a green salsa that is garlicky and both the chips and salsa are awesome. We also ordered the beans and rice and it comes in a cute molcajete dish and is super flavourful and another highlight of our visit. Lastly, we had the churros for dessert and they were absolutely fresh and spectacular, splittable for two and would highly recommend them with any order. As for the "downs": anyone looking at this place I would have to assume is part of the birria wave, as we were. It is our fault, but as gringos, we definitely assumed they were all created equally, with the tortilla dipped and fried, a little bit of cheese and a flavourful consumme in which to dip. Wrong. Here it is just a taco with beef, onion and cilantro on them. Fine, we were still game, but the meat was absolutely flavourless and I would not get these again. Having questioned the server about it not being the birria we were thinking, they told us that what we wanted was a "quesabirria" taco, which they DO serve, but it not on the menu and is only part of their catering business? Still trying to wrap my head around that, why they wouldn't sell the current viral food in the restaurant or mention it when people order. We were very sure to tell them it was our first time. On the flipside of flavour, we also tried the cochinita-pibil pork taco, and it was absolutely jam-packed with flavour, I'm just not sure it was good flavour. It was overpoweringly sour and is maybe an acquired taste but it sure made my face pucker, would not order this again either and the server said they thought it was actually their best taco. We ordered a large bowl of pozole but this is another case of perhaps regional variations where it came with lettuce and that is just really weird to me to have lettuce in soup. I say the same thing about lettuce in sushi so if you don't mind that then this might not be such a non starter for you. The lettuce is listed on the menu so I should have asked to leave it out as the broth really was very nice, however as a whole I much preferred BMC Market's pozole much more. Prefer BMC tacos also by a lot, but they are much further away unfortunately. I am really on the fence about this place because it's a taco shop and I didnt like their tacos. Am I to come back for beans and rice and churros? Perhaps if the "quesabirria" taco makes the menu at some point, I will forced to give it another try!

We like Mexican food and are always on the lookout for an authentic Mexican restaurant. The place is small with lots of decorations that brought back memories of trips to Mexico. Good food and friendly service. Nosotras volveremos!

The place is very small. Only 4 tables so our party of 6 took 2 of the tables together with extra chairs from the back. It's more of a take out place. As for the food. The general consensus at the table was that it was good but lacked seasoning. Everything was bland and needed salt or hot sauce to spice it up. Even with 4 tables total it took a while to have them take our order and there was confusion with the soup as onions where not listed on the ingredients, which is why she choose it, and it came covered in onions to which she can't have. The experience was OK but will likely go somewhere else next time we are in town
