My friend introduced me to this place for nice coffee. (We both love coffee!) I ordered Cortado and she had decaf oat latte. And we shared almond croissant. Almond croissant had really nice flavour (not artificial) and we both enjoyed coffee. I took a canele home and it was amazing as well!😆👍 +++Everyone was very friendly and cozy and comfortable space.
L'atelier Patisserie offers the most a great variety of selections of pastries. They also offer great bigger relaxed seating area. The service was wonderful. We tried their special matcha, macaroons, croissant, and hazelnut chocolate pastry. They all taste so great!
The cafe was clean and elegantly decorated, with a picturesque lead up to the pastries and till adorned with local goods such as honey, lavender bunches, and sparkling apple cider from the Fraser Valley. They have an exciting assortment of desserts, pastries, and food. Their subtle decorations for winter added a nice touch without being overwhelming. They even had little croissant ornaments mixed with round ones hanging from a garland, which I thought was a cute on-theme way to decorate. I had the Saumon Baguette. I was happy that the smoked salmon covered the whole baguette. I am someone who enjoys bold flavours so I found it had a lot of potential based on the listed ingredients but was lacking the flavour I was hoping for. The cucumber and onions were julienned in very thin slices so the baguette was in much need of moisture. It needed some balance, with either more cream cheese (it was a very thin spread, almost like you would butter), full cucumbers medallions, or I’d even suggest adding avocado or egg salad! I wished there was more dill, more onions, and that missing moisture piece. Maybe some capers for added saltiness? It wasn’t bad, but has the potential to be great! I’ll try something else next time I’m in or give them the benefit of the doubt that it was simply how one person made it that wasn’t to my taste. With all that being said, there may be something I’m ignorant of, such as maybe it is a French way and I just didn’t know that. While I’ve been to France a few times, I admit I haven’t had many baguette sandwiches. I also know baguettes are generally very dry and crunchy, so I may just be putting my own personal preferences of disliking dry crunch over the dedication to French style. I’m not sure. Regardless, I will definitely return! In addition the to saumon baguette I had a London Fog with oat milk which was lovely and creamy, adorned on the top with spices, which may have been little sprinkles of the tea itself, I’m not sure. It hit the spot just right! Definitely one of my favourites in the city. For dessert I had a Pistachio Rocher. The perfect mix of sweet and salty, crunchy and soft. You’ve got the three layers of texture - the crunchy salty dark chocolate and pistachio exterior, the mouse, and the inner sponge with praline. With desserts that have the hard shell and soft interior I’m always worried I’m not getting the right balance, but after the first bite it was easy to make sure I got all three layers all at once. It was a delight to the tastebuds! I’d love if there were options to try it in milk and white chocolate too! The interior was chic, modern, and minimalist with faux olive trees, recessed shelves, and beige walls. I found their local goods section to be quaint and inviting. The bathroom was a bit disconnected from the chic interior. With a new paint job, one of the olive trees or another fake plant in the left corner, and a fake plant wall or painting to cover the grating / boiler area it would really amplify the comfort of the experience to match the rest of the patisserie. I also took home a lavender honey which has been lovely! The lavender is subtle and it’s a beautiful pairing to many things. I’ve even used it in making icing sugar (instead of using corn syrup) for some sugar cookies for the holidays. It’s the type of honey that crystallizes so you have to warm it up to get it back to a liquid state. I was also able to pick up sparkling apple cider to pair with a holiday meal from one of my favourite places for apples - the Apple Barn in the Fraser Valley. Their apple cider is always delectable and I was so excited to find somewhere that supplies it in Vancouver! Overall this cafe has intention, thoughtfulness, and is a beautiful celebration of local goods while honouring French patisserie. I highly recommend a stop in - especially for those who love patisseries, abundance, and an elevated outing experience when seeking a cafe! It’s a lovely treat in the city!
I really like their cakes since they are not sweet. It is just right on. I ordered a flat white, very strong taste. So good 😊. Self serve water station is available. Washroom is clean. Very friendly staff who cleaned our table right after I sat down. Smile on her face (another person) even she needed to redo the drink for my friend liked decaf. Will go back for sure.
We were driving by and decided to stop, not knowing what to expect. I ordered my usual cortado, almond croissant and baguette. My friend decided to order the mango and passionfruit cheesecake - those are ‘my flavours’ as I decided to have the croissant and the cheesecake also. Needless to say, everything was great… The coffee was strong but not bitter and the cheesecake had a nice crust, was tangy and not too sweet. Aswell, the staff were friendly and helpful. Everything was done with a high quality. We’ll be back.
