Very greedy! This is a place purely about capitalism. Yesterday I attended a huge free event called Ciclavia and thought the MTP would be free entry as well or even discounted for bike rider's but no nothing for the customers but a stupid spin wheel. In this economy $6 is awful for a flea market. I sat and watched as many potential customers to the vendors were turned away because of this greedy company. Thank you @ciclavia for giving an absolute amazing free event. Shame on MTP for thinking about only their pockets and not the vendors that make them great. I’d suggest going to a more community friendly market like Los Feliz wonder land. How are you going to try and capitalize off a free event that shut down an entire street without offering anything to the potential customers. Clearly they weren’t there for the people.
It’s cute but it’s mostly a bunch of little girls fighting to get to the last product. Also most things are over priced. You can go to the thrift stores down the street and get slightly better deals on second hand items. It’s a cute set up, and there’s a lady with a delicious coffee and donut booth. I’d say her coffee booth and the booths with sunglasses were my favorite. I just didn’t appreciate the weird “competition” vibes via the shoppers. Like just shop and enjoy please. LOL
There are many genuine hand-crafted items here, with many of the local vendors being the craft-persons themselves. Walk around, see what's there, say "hello" and open up a conversation. Ask questions, barter (you'd be surprised at the deals you can make). I spoke with some wonderful people, and, with their permission, I include images of their business cards and display stalls. There is an admission fee of $8.00 and there is 3-hour complimentary parking behind the school. ($20.00 after 3 hours!), and you can enter on the East side of Fairfax.
We made a really fun Sunday afternoon out our visit there! The entrance fee per person is $6, but it's totally worth it. There are so many artists there - hatters, candle makers, vintage fashion enthusiasts, you name it! You can shop for clothes, jewelry, home decor, etc. And grab a snack at one of the food trucks - great value and super tasty! Shout-out to Elizabeth Marcel, the mad hatter - funny, friendly, and talented!
Melrose is always one my favorite places to shop coming into LA. The entrance fee is $7 and the option of free valet up to 3 hours I believe which is plenty of time. The vibes are always great, vendors playing music, decent size crowds, plenty of food options too. I always find a good selection of vinyls and rare ones too. If you’re looking for vintage tees/clothes this is the place to come to.
