Mermaid Winery is an eclectic spot with a fun atmosphere, featuring colorful mood lighting, a massive mermaid mural, and whimsical artwork of animals drinking wine. It feels like its kitchen is still developing its identity, but there is a lot of promise here. THE FOOD 🍞 Southern Bread Service: Do not skip the biscuits! These three massive biscuits had a crisp shell and a warm, steamy crumb. They are 100% shareable (or you will be too stuffed for your main), and they were the highlight of our brief stopover. 🍣 The Redneck Roll: This dish was a bit of a "whirlwind." Between the blackened tuna, pineapple, sriracha, and BBQ sauce, there was so much going on that it became confusing to the palate. I would likely pass on this specific roll next time in favor of a simpler option. SERVICE The hospitality was a strong point. The manager and bartender were kind enough to share tastes of their popular red wines, which helped us navigate the drink menu. OVERALL A cool place to hang out with unique decor and decent service. I look forward to seeing how the menu evolves to match the potential of the venue.
Great place to enjoy a delicious dinner and some wine. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a sultry underwater theme that pays homage to the name, and the atmosphere feels intimate and cozy. The mermaid fries are SO good, and my shrimp risotto was rich, creamy, and flavorful. The food portions are generous and filling. The wine list is extensive! There are also cocktails if you prefer those. I got the house Merlot and it was one of the smoothest wines I’d ever tasted. Our server was so nice and very knowledgeable about the food menu as well as the wine.
I had a wonderful experience at Mermaid Winery in Norfolk, VA. The ambiance is charming and inviting, perfect for a relaxing day. I started with the Redneck Rolls, which were creatively presented and bursting with flavor—definitely a highlight. The chicken and vegetable soup was hearty and comforting, packed with fresh ingredients and just the right seasoning. Our bartender was friendly and attentive, making the visit even more enjoyable. Whether you're a wine enthusiast or just looking for a cozy spot to enjoy good food and good company, Mermaid Winery is definitely worth a visit! 🧜♀️
Yesterday was my birthday and I had the pleasure of visiting this establishment and meeting the wonderful Mia. She made my birthday so special! Her service was amazing, all while she was hosting, bussing, serving, and more by herself! Though she was handling the front on her own she did not let that deter her from displaying positivity and hospitality. I seen her service my table, others, and the bar and we all got such an upbeat and welcoming personality from her which many cannot do during a high stress situation like she was in. She is the epitome of a server, hostess, and so much more! The bread service was amazing and so was the pasta. The atmosphere is intimate and so astonishing..the perfect place to take pictures. The decor is wonderful, and there’s so many spaces to take good pictures. Even the bathrooms are picture worthy! Thank you so much Mia for making my experience what it was!
