Absolutely one of my favorite restaurants. Food is always yummy, drinks are delicious and the service is top tier. We LOVED our server tonight, Gene J. he was exceptionally pleasant. He was prompt, personable and made sure we had everything we needed. We’ll definitely continue to come back.
Welcome to the Red Onion festival! Let me take you through peeling back one layer at a time. First layer - the mambo taxi. A delicious frozen margarita with a sangria swirl - their signature drink. Delicious, strong, pricey, worth it. Color looks like a red onion 2nd layer - chips and salsa. I remember them being better years ago but maybe I’m just burned out. Salsa can be spicy and delicious at times. Unsure of red onion usage here 3rd layer. - guac - loaded with red onion. Pretty sure the queso blanco is too. 4th layer - pico de Gallo. If you took 100 pieces of the pico, I bet 50 would be chopped red onion and the rest tomato and cilantro and jalapeños Fortunately, they use regular white onions for fajitas This location has improved in recent years and just underwent renovation, but just not quite there for the price you pay. If you do go, get a legitimate plate and not nachos (although good), enchiladas or quesadillas. Recommend the Pollo Moderno and a side of their refried beans (2 ingredients - AND NO RED ONION)! Ribeye at a Tex-Mex restaurant sounded like a gamble. My friends doubted it. I ordered it anyway. The RIBEYE AL CARBON proved them wrong. The steak was smoky, tender, and full of rich, char-grilled flavor with perfect seasoning. Each bite melted in my mouth and paired beautifully with the arroz, bean soup, guacamole, pico de gallo, and salsa de arbol. Then came the MAMBO TAXI®, a frozen margarita mixed with Sauza Blanco and house-made sangria. Smooth, refreshing, and the perfect balance of tart and sweet. It was bold, cold, and easy to love. Mi Cocina surprised us all. Great food, warm service, and a ribeye I’ll be craving again soon. Highly recommend.
We had a surprise party for my mothers 75th birthday. We showed up with a party of 12 and they immediately got a table prepared for us. They gifted us with the most amazing waiter, GENE! He was hands down one of the best waiters I have had in my life. He was kind, professional, patient and just all around perfect! Gene helped make this surprise party absolutely wonderful!
Hulen and I-30 location is my go to for amazing lunch and dinner. I am a regular and David is AMAZING and my usual server. He always makes me feel important and because I’m a regular he knows what I love to eat and drink every time I visit. Highly recommend David!!! The entire staff and management are great go out of their way to make sure you are always taken care of.
