The staff were nice but they add services with a few questions such as “is it all right if I?” Without telling you you will be paying over double. We were in for a couples massage and my therapist asked the usual questions regarding any discomfort. He advised he had a technique he could use involving some stretching and asked if it was ok if he did that. I told him sure why not. That response cost an extra approximate $250 plus tax that I was never advised about when I was asked. Beware of the stealthy upsell!!!
I had the best pedicure today! The atmosphere was clean and bright and the esthetician was wonderful!
Moment Spa (Located within Fairmont Le Château Frontenac) - Disappointing Manicure & Poor Service I had a very disappointing and frustrating experience at Moment Spa, which is located inside the prestigious Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. I booked a manicure and specifically informed them when booking that I had ANC (dip powder) on my nails. The receptionist noted this to ensure adequate time. The manicure took over two hours, with the vast majority of that time spent by the technician laboriously filing the ANC off my nails with a standard nail file. This was uncomfortable and inefficient. Crucially, the service did not include the advertised hand or arm massage. The final result was cuticle work and a couple of coats of polish for a service that cost over $100. If the spa truly does not remove ANC, this should have been communicated to me immediately when I booked and certainly before the service started. I was only told she might not be able to get it all off well after she had already started filing my nails. Had I known they could not properly perform the removal, I would have booked a different service (like a pedicure or facial) or gone elsewhere. When I raised this issue at the hotel front desk, they were initially compassionate and promised a full refund. However, the charge was still on my bill at checkout. I was then told the hotel couldn't help because the spa is a separate third-party entity, and the spa refused the refund. After arguing over the phone with a spa representative, they finally agreed to a 50% discount as a compromise. The price was not worth the experience—it was a two-hour ordeal of filing and a basic polish, missing key elements of the advertised service, and followed by poor customer service and a billing hassle. For a spa associated with the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, I expected much better service and accountability. I will definitely not be returning to Moment Spa.
Unless you absolutely want a horrible spa experience, avoid this place at all costs. Has ruined the Fairmont brand for me. I would like to start with reception, I arrived at the recommended 15 minutes early and then proceeded to wait 10 minutes as the receptionist talked to another person and ignored both other customers and the phone. I was then shown the “relaxation room” which should not even be called that, it is an absolutely sterile waiting room with nothing relaxing about it. The therapist came and got me right on the hour and showed me to the room. I was uncomfortable from the start when I was shown into a bright room with no blinds so that as I am undressing for a massage anyone from the hotel who would care to look could see me. It was challenging to move past that and incredibly uncomfortable. I don’t know how you all characterize a massage, but just randomly rubbing up and down is not a massage technique I have ever received before and I would not recommend it. Lastly, the repeated knocking on the room door and the conversations that occurred ruined any chance of relaxation. Again, maybe I was wrong to expect more of a spa on a Fairmont, but I’ve had better and more relaxing massages at a kiosk in an airport than I had there.
Today my wife and I had a pedicure completed and then she had a manicure complete. This was my first pedicure ever! I was impressed with the estheticians and how non-judgmental, accommodating, and professional they both were. My wife and I had a great morning and we all laughed a lot. I felt relaxed, content, and satisfied upon leaving. Thanks everyone for the memorable experience we had today, it was alot of fun! 😊
