Melanie always brings so much joy to everyone around her every time I stop by the gym to see her. I love her yoga classes and how she adds alternative poses for people who may be struggling with a pose. If you want to try yoga for the first time or if you’ve done it before already, Melanie does a great job meeting the needs of both experienced and new yoga students.
Extremely unprofessional and unsafe experience. I purchased climbing shoes and a day pass and expected basic professionalism. I’ve climbed at gyms all over the world and have never experienced anything like this. To be clear, the woman who assisted me with purchasing my climbing shoes was professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. That part of the experience was positive and appreciated. Unfortunately, the rest was not. It was hot, so I took my shirt off while climbing—something that has never been an issue at other gyms. While I was still on the wall and climbing without a shirt, I was suddenly yelled at to immediately get down and put it back on. Regardless of grade, climbing is a high-risk sport, and yelling at someone mid-climb is dangerous. I apologized and began climbing down safely, yet the employee (or owner) continued aggressively barking commands while I was already descending. This was distracting not only to me but to other climbers as well—especially those climbing higher grades where focus is critical. I’m an injured veteran with ankle injuries and avoid uncontrolled drops. The continued shouting showed a complete disregard for climber safety. If this was a rule, it should have been handled calmly and only after I was safely on the ground. Screaming across a gym creates an unsafe environment. Based on this experience, I can confidently say. I probably will not be visiting this gym again.
Pure fun! And it’s also a workout. Could also be a great team builder or a way to blow off steam. I was impressed at how challenging it was but also how I rose to the occasion as a non-athlete.
This place rocks… literally! The have some small toys ( like dinosaurs) so we were able to play hide and seek rock with the dinos climbing version. Also managed to make my son look like a poster. No that is my actual kid.. he was thrilled to be there.
Momentum Silver Street is a fantastic gym for bouldering as it offers a space for everybody at all levels. For first timers, they’ll have you fill out a waiver form, grab your rental climbing shoes (bring socks!), and watch an introduction safety video for the gym. They do a great job at switching out the routes every few weeks, so it doesn’t get boring. There’s a small store at the front of the gym where you can buy climbing gear such as shoes, chalk, chalk bags, etc. Additionally, they sectioned off the back area for gym equipment such as weights, pull up bars, and a stretching area. Momentum also offers yoga classes and workshops! Do not sleep on the yoga classes! They’ve introduced me to many different types of yoga and wonderful instructors. The classes are free for members, so I highly recommend taking advantage of the classes if you do have a membership. I’ve noticed they’re more beginner friendly compared to studios that specialize in yoga, but I actually prefer the level they do it here at Momentum. So don’t let the yoga classes intimidate you! Overall, Momentum is a great gym for bouldering and building community. Additionally, it offers a plethora of activities and events, outside of climbing. And don’t worry about parking, there’s plenty!
