DISAPPOINTING REPONSE EDIT DECEMBER 8-2025 Thank you for your response. I would like to clarify a few important points, as your reply does not accurately reflect my experience. First, the only “alternative” offered to us was theory or composition lessons, which is not equivalent to the clarinet instruction we originally contracted for. My daughter was switched to a different instrument at school, and Morin does not offer lessons for that new instrument. Expecting us to continue paying for lessons in an instrument she would no longer be studying—simply to fulfill a policy—does not feel like a reasonable or meaningful accommodation. Second, the tone of your reply comes across as unnecessarily aggressive, especially given the context. At no point did I demand a “unique policy”; I simply asked for consideration given the change of circumstances and the lack of a qualified teacher for the instrument my daughter was reassigned to. I reached out in good faith on September 5th and was told the situation would be looked into. Hearing nothing for 5 weeks reasonably led me to believe that some flexibility or discussion was possible. Only after I followed up again was I informed that nothing could be done. Finally, it is deeply disappointing that my daughter’s previously positive experience with Morin has been overshadowed by the way this situation was handled. A child should not be left feeling responsible or at fault because appropriate instruction for her new instrument was not available. . I stand by my original comments and hope that Morin reflects on how situations like this can be handled with more transparency, empathy, and clearer communication in the future. Worst experience ever. My daughter was chosen and offered to switch instruments at the begining of school after recieving band memeber of the year last year. Morin doesn't have a music teacher that teaches her new instrument. I was reminded of the 8 week cancellation policy(which by the way you have to confirm in May for September for the lessons) that i would have to pay for lessons for an instrument that my daugheter no longer was going to play. I sent an email on Sept 5th regarding the circumstances and was told that they would look into it and get back to me. This led me to believe that some sort of consideration would be taken into account. After not hearing back, I had to email on Sept 28th to follow up and then today October 8th I was told sorry they didn't fill the spot and I still have to pay until Oct 29th. Never communicated that the spot needed to be filled for me not to have to pay 8 weeks, only offer was maybe my daughter would like to learn theory or composition, which is different from what our contract was for. Waited 5 weeks to tell me that I will still have to pay. I can't tell you how disappointing this whole experience has been. My young daughter is upset that we have to pay money and feels like it is her fault because she changed instruments. Morin took a really positive opportunity for my daughter and turned it into a really negative experience. No accomodation or consideration for a child that was excited for a new opportunity.

My son started taking theory lessons with Dr. Michalis Andronikou in the fall of 2024. It's evident that he enjoys teaching theory and is knowledgeable in the subject. It's clear that he wants to develop my son's knowledge as he has provided optional activities, such as music composition and history reading suggestions. In the first lesson, he assessed how well my son could read the bass clef and offered suggestions for improvement. My son followed all of his advice and was well prepared for his theory exam. He is able to explain complex music theory in a way my son can understand. My son was able to complete his weekly homework with minimal questions. Every lesson, he will ask my son to complete a question for each exercise to ensure my son is able to complete the homework independently. In the rare event where we run out of time, he will ask my son to read all the exercises and answer any questions my son may have. After a couple of months, he was even able to give us a projected timeline for when my son would be ready for the exam, which is helpful for families with busy schedules. Before the exam, he sent an email with detailed instructions on how to register for the correct RCM theory exam, making the process easier. He also explained the exam format, shared typical average scores, and questions past students have struggled with. He is flexible and allow my son to decide how much homework he can complete each week as there were a couple of weeks when he was too busy to complete all the suggested homework. He is currently a theory examiner for RCM, so he is updated on the latest news/curriculum. My son has been taking piano lessons with Michelle Gregoire since fall 2019. He was 4 years when he first started taking piano lessons. He has been taking online lessons since the pandemic. Fall 2023, he will be taking in-person lessons with her. It's obvious that she cares about developing my son's love for music. When my son mentioned that he was nervous playing in front of an audience, she gave him tips on how to calm his nerves. Her lessons are well thought out, and it's obvious she's thought about her lesson plan in advance. She's able to challenge my son without discouraging him. She always asks my son whether he wants to participate in exams, recitals, and competitions. At the beginning of each lesson, she always asks my son what song my son thinks he needs the most help.. She also asks for his input on what songs he'd like to learn. She has the ability to explain concepts in a way he's able to understand. When my son finds something difficult, she's given him tips on how to practice. By the next lesson, he's improved significantly. This has helped with his confidence. He gets really excited when he hears the improvement. Her lesson plans include theory and history. She also taught him improv. She patiently taught him how to play jazz songs even though it was difficult for him to swing the eighth notes in the beginning. My son enjoys piano lessons with Michelle. Originally, the plan was for my son to take a break from piano this summer, but he requested for summer lessons, so we signed him up for summer lessons.

Our daughters took lessons with Praise and Andrew for several years and they were absolutely wonderful teachers and friends to them! I would highly recommend Morin to anyone looking for skilled music teachers for their children or for themselves!

Both of my sons have been taking piano lessons from Dan Morin for over seven years, and I can confidently say he is an exceptional teacher who cares deeply about his students’ growth and well-being. What sets Dan apart is his ability to truly understand each student as an individual. He’s a keen observer who recognizes that every child learns differently. He thoughtfully adapts his teaching style to suit each student's needs and often finds creative ways to connect their outside interests to piano, making learning more engaging and meaningful. Dan’s patience and support create a positive and encouraging environment. He knows how to build confidence and gently motivate his students to push themselves and grow. His years of experience are evident—he has a remarkable ability to assess what a student is capable of achieving. More than once, he has introduced music I thought was too difficult, only for my children to master it by year’s end and perform it confidently during recitals or competitions. Dan also brings humor and warmth into his lessons, which makes learning enjoyable. Both of my kids genuinely look forward to their time with him. He doesn’t pressure them, but instead sets clear expectations, and they consistently rise to meet them. Perhaps most importantly, he instills a deep and lasting love for music in all of his students. I wholeheartedly recommend Dan Morin to anyone looking for a dedicated, skilled, and inspiring piano teacher.
