My wife and I wanted to see this place years ago on a trip to San Francisco but couldn't make it happen. We were finally able to make it in November last year and it was worth the wait. Driving up to it really doesn't prepare you for what you're about to experience. What an incredible place! It felt like a rainforest. Pictures really don't do it. You have to see it for yourself.

Great place to visit and amazing hikes. The visitor center and the cafe needs more option. People who are out of state and came on bus tours, not much options to eat there and almost nothing on the menu is available to purchase. And no opportunities for power outlets, because of course visitors will need to charge up their devices since they are taking such great pictures. Amazing tour Totally will come back But do better with cafe !

Visited the Muir woods in rain! The atmosphere was all misty and calm. Good experience hiking in such a weather. Incredible huge trees will take your breath away! Make sure to book the tickets and parking before the visit. The entry was smooth, however we could not check out the gift shop as it closes before the Muir woods closes, Mae sure to ho to the gift shop before you start the hike.

Muir Woods is a must-visit place for anyone who wants to escape the busy city and walk among ancient trees. Many of the coastal redwoods here are between 500 and 800 years old, and some are over 1,000 years old. To put this in perspective: when these trees were just starting to grow, Vikings were leaving Scandinavia in their longboats and settling along the River Liffey, which would eventually become Dublin. Standing among these trees makes you realize how brief our time on Earth is. If you’re looking for an easy, peaceful walk, Muir Woods makes it simple. Stay on the boardwalk trails and enjoy the towering trees, filtered light, and cool air. If you’re in the mood for something more challenging, grab a trail map and try one of the loops marked “moderate.” Over the years, I’ve done most of them, and they’re all rewarding in different ways. My favorite longer hike—when I have the time—is Bootjack to Alpine Trail leading to Pantoll Picnic Area, then returning via Stapleveldt, Ben Johnson, Hillside, and Bohemian Trail. Pantoll is a great place to stop for lunch, with picnic tables and restrooms, and most of the climbing is done by the time you get there. Plan on 3–5 hours total, including a relaxed lunch break. Here are some important notes for visitors today: You need to reserve parking and shuttle services, so make sure to plan ahead. Keep in mind that this area has dense forests, so it gets dark quicker than you might think. Allow enough time to return before it gets dark, and consider bringing a flashlight in your backpack. Muir Woods is best enjoyed at a slow pace, take your time to appreciate the beauty around you. It’s more than just a walk; it’s a chance to connect with nature and reflect on its long history.
