Leaving a review for Daniel. I am super grateful for his help. Although my taxes were not able to be completed by their office, I want to highlight his help. He made a solid effort.
My brother had an appointment at 10:45 and it’s now 11:45 they have limited staff with no legitimate reason as to why to pick up paperwork that he had to fill out additional paperwork. This is ridiculous I realize it’s a free volunteer service but it doesn’t make sense that even there are people that have been here since 10:00 this morning
Believe me your better off either paying someone to do your taxes or use one of the online places. From the moment I sat down with the preparer I had an uneasy feeling. She was more interested in seeing what's happening on her phone than helping us. After nearly an hour I took my finished work to the second person to have it double checked and approved. When the printer kicked on and started printing out all the forms I knew something was not right but was told "Oh, it's been doing that all day". Then I was told it would have to be checked again by someone before it could be e-filed but they couldn't get to it for a couple days. This has never happened before! Sure enough I got a call in about a week saying my taxes could NOT be efiled because they had some unexplained difficulty and that I would have to mail the paper work that so conveniently printed out. Then I remembered that no one else there that day had theirs printed out. So I checked the forms and sure enough there was a mistake where the lady entered some of my information twice. I was almost a year getting my refund because of their screw up that they didn't have the decency to fess up to. In fact they downright lied saying no ones taxes got efiled that day while I sat there and watched two people get theirs done with no problem. Get it done professionally and get it done right unless you want to go through what I did.
Very knowledgeable and welcoming staff. They are confident and have a great checks and balances system. I filed my taxes the last 3 years with this non profit organization. So far so good. Most qualify before getting taxes filed free of charge.
I had a very good experience with the staff. Upon entering for my appointment, I was acknowledged immediately by the receptionist. After filling out some preliminary paperwork I was asked to come back to a employees desk. The gentleman was courteous and patient, and answered all my questions. What I really liked is how they will complete your file and then will turn over your file to a coworker to verify their work. Nice check and balance system. The second person was just as professional and courteous.
