Security wouldnt allow me to park my scooter, which I use for mobility and carries my things out of the way at the front door with very few customers inside. What a way to lose a customer and donor for over 10 years. SMH
The location is at an okay spot and they had some neat finds. What I don't appreciate is the security guard following me around the store. Security guard saw me come in and while I was looking around he kept his " distance". Every time I looked up, I would catch him staring at my next move. When checking out I noticed he was STILL watching me. I asked the cash register if it's normal for the guard to watch/ follow customers when they're browsing and they said he wasn't watching me. He was walking around. Despite me catching him multiple times moving locations on the second floor to get a better view of where I was when browsing the women's section. If you're PoC, don't bother coming here.
My old review disappeared from Google and Yelp. You have to check in your bag when you enter. The worker gave my bag to someone else even though they didn't have the ticket. If they had looked inside my bag which had my wallet, they would have seen it didn't belong to a guy. It had my bike lock keys, wallet, cash from bartending shift, laptop, jacket, and more. I was commuting from Modesto to finish my two weeks notice. The owner wasn't reachable for months then he calls and gives me attitude saying I should have filed a claim sooner (I did submit the police report, the officer even gave me money to get back to Modesto because my wallet was in the bag) and that he's not going to do anything to help and no repercussions for the worker. PD call from a far away city in CA to let me know I had my identity stolen because they obtained my ID from a hotel it was trying to be used at, so guy that stole my bag was probably homeless and the male worker still just handed him my bag without the ticket no questions asked. Never supporting this place again, never checking in my bag anywhere ever again. Bike got all parts stolen except the frame which was locked. I moved out of CA and moved back after a couple years and the bike frame was still locked there. Frame is gone now, ha. This was in late 2012. The owner doesn't care about you. Don't check your bag. Don't support this business.
Kitchenware is extremely expensive despite missing parts, store employees sometimes will not even respond to you and just roll their eyes if you ask a question. Some items are left in a closed cardboard box with a price tag so that you have no idea what is inside them and trying to get employees to actually have a conversation with you so that you can open these things is a pain. There are some interesting things there, but imo it’s not worth it when you can just get a bus to another store.
Out of The Closet has great prices and an awesome mission. I frequent the Folsom location (not sure if there are multiple locations), and it’s a bit dingy inside. There are no dressing rooms and no returns so that’s kind of a bummer. Overall, I’d still recommend checking it out because of the nice pieces i’ve come upon and the low prices.
