This review is solely on the cafe. My daughter and I stopped her a few weeks ago to see the alpacas and ponies. Whilst here we went for brunch in the cafe. It was busy but we managed to get a table. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. You can order food through the website or on table service. I intended to order via the online but the reception wasn’t the best and I meant I had to register etc and it was far too time consuming. I also lost my progress so ended up ordering the old fashioned way. I got scrambled eggs on toast with peas. The eggs were nicely cooked but the bread was cheap and more artificial than artisanal. I got the Xmas special sandwich which again was served on bread which my grandma used to describe as blotting paper. But hey, the majority of the population love this type of bread. The filling was okay but not very substantial. It reminded me of school sandwiches. I also got the chocolate French toast which was very sweet and quite tasty but the bread was lacking crisp and was quite soggy. I also had the Yule log which wasn’t particularly special. I looked like supermarket bought as it lacked the homemade characteristics but I could be wrong. It tasted fine though. For drink I got a hot chocolate which was in a fancy mug and had plenty of cream and was enjoyed. Overall, not the best brunch we’ve had but maybe this is good as garden centres go? It’s a nice setting and the staff are friendly. To avoid hassle, I recommend ordering from table service.
We came with our granddaughter to see the donkeys and alpacas. She loves donkeys. We love the shop what a garden centre should be.
Always a fabulous soup and sandwich lunch but today a special treat as we went on the Poinsettia Walk! Amazing! 60,000 plants flourishing in huge greenhouses heated by their own biomass plant. Only place in the country doing this! The variety of poinsettia was incredible
Lots of lovely, fresh plants. Good stock of gifts and cards. Had breakfast which was fine apart from my toast which was like hot bread. Scrambled egg and smoked salmon was tasty. My husband enjoyed his full breakfast. Would definitely recommend.
One of the best! Fantastic restaurant and great fresh produce and friendly staff. Fresh soup and scones to fish and chips to morning rolls and so much more to choose from. Lots of plants and Christmas stock now in as well as free parking, what more do you want. Great Mac and cheese and cakes and the easy ordering service on the app if you prefer.
