We LOVE Pet Express and have been coming here for nearly two years for our cats. They have a great selection of food, treats, litter, and other useful products. If you want to support locally, be sure to come here. We also love their shop cat, Hunter. The customer service is always top notch. We’ve never had anything but a fantastic experience here. Depending on what and how much you buy, they have frequent buyer programs. I gather from another review that some people think it’s fine to let your toddler run around a store and grab at living animals, but that’s just questionable parenting. I can totally understand how the staff would maybe be a bit frustrated by this parental oversight. It’s a business, not your play place.
Very helpful employee walked us through an awesome selection of high quality cat food. This store stocks a lot of independent brands that use high quality proteins like Rawz, Orijen, Weruva, etc. Also, they have a store cat! This shop also stocks dog food and toys, but if you’re a cat owner, you’ll love this place! The employee offered to special order a brand we were looking for, and also offered free delivery for orders of $50+.
This place is a great and asset to our neighborhood. Do not let the one bad review deter you , stores are not babysitters and Hunter the Cat is not a toy for kids. Although this is a small store, they can order pretty much anything you might find at a bigger store and at a better price. This is great if you need certain items regularly, but do not order enough to meet the free shipping requirements of online stores.
Fabulous store! It is jam packed with the healthiest pet care on the market (including several items on Susan Thixton’s 2025 Truth About Pet Food list). It’s also the best place in LA to get quail eggs- frozen raw or dehydrated. My dog cleans his plate at every meal now. :)
We brought our 3-year-old daughter here for what we thought would be a fun little stop. The store has a cat that freely roams around, which sounds charming—until it’s not. Our daughter, being a toddler, was gently trying to reach out to pet the cat. She wasn’t rough, wasn’t chasing—just curious and kind. Unfortunately, the cat scratched her. These things happen. But what shocked us wasn’t the scratch—it was the reaction from the staff. No concern. No apology. No basic first aid. Just a cold “Well, she shouldn’t have been chasing him” and a shrug. We weren’t asking for much—just some human decency, maybe a Band-Aid. Instead, we were met with defensiveness and zero compassion. If you have young children, or you simply expect kindness and responsibility from a business, I’d strongly recommend going somewhere else. This place may look quaint on the outside, but there’s no care behind the counter.
