I really want to love this shop—it’s a local business and women-owned and operated—but my experiences here have been consistently disappointing. The atmosphere feels stuffy and, frankly, judgmental. When I come in dressed up with hair and makeup done, I’m met with almost performative friendliness. But if I stop in on a weekend, dressed casually to run errands, go to the gym etc. the tone shifts: I get the once-over and the feeling that I’m being watched for shoplifting. This difference in treatment has been noticeable and consistent over time. What used to keep me coming back was the upstairs consignment section. While the downstairs brands are fine, upstairs you could once find one-of-a-kind pieces from some great labels like Ulla Johnson, ba&sh, Sézane, A.L.C., along with the occasional “unicorn” designer item or unique international brand. Unfortunately, that inventory has really declined and lately I haven’t found much worth getting excited about. I’ve heard feedback from friends who previously consigned here who described feeling like second-class citizens, dealing with excessive rules, being identified only by numbers, paid exclusively in store credit. Instructed to call if they wanted to know whether items had sold or their credit balances, but felt treated as a nuisance when they did call or text. Unsurprisingly, they’ve stopped consigning here because they felt their contributions to this business were not valued or appreciated —and I suspect others have too, which may explain why the selection isn’t what it used to be. I’d love to see this shop live up to its potential, but until the culture improves, it’s hard to recommend.
After over a decade of shopping with them, I always have the best experience with the Piece Unique team! All the ladies are so welcoming and helpful. The selection is unmatched—I never walk out empty handed. We are fortunate to have them in our community and I will forever be a customer with this local gem!
Love the selection of both new luxury items and upstairs is designer consignment items. They have both men’s and women’s on the main floor. Their shoe selection is phenomenal! Found a very classic pair patent leather Maryjane’s. Whoever is buying for the store has great taste. Also whoever is choosing items for the consignment is doing a great job too. I highly recommend if you are visiting downtown Boise.
Piece Unique is the top choice for buying premium quality clothing. I found my experience to be the best in the valley, and of any boutique in downtown Boise. I was well taken care of from top to bottom. These women gave exceptional service all the way to my car! I love Piece Unique!
Found this chiffon dress for $300 and it is now one of my favorites! They had a great selection of consignment as well and the women were very helpful.
