My son started here just a few months ago. I have already noticed an improvement in his self control, confidence, and awareness of safety. He has been loving his experience at POW and is excited to continue to learn and grow! I’ve been very impressed with what he has learned already and very happy with the program and the community it has created. Thank you POW!!
Our 7 year old started with POW about 4 months ago and the difference we have seen has been incredible. Even his teacher at school has recognized an improvement in his attention and self-control! The most unexpected thing we've come to recognize is his confidence, his use of his voice, and resilience. We can recommend Master Coleman and POW enough. He mixes in fun and discipline in the best way and our kids are thriving under his direction! He also makes time to instruct parents to be encouraging and includes us in the lessons as well. It has been the best experience.
Our 8-year-old son has been participating in POW for more than a year. Prior to attending POW, he was receiving Physical Therapy for muscle tightness and weakness. His doctor has been so pleased with the increase in mobility achieved by attending POW, we were able to discontinue PT. Our son loves POW and looks forward to classes. Master Coleman is amazing with the children he teaches. Not only is our son getting the PT he needs, he’s also learning discipline, bully defense and other skills. We are so thankful we found the POW family.
We initially started POW through our son having a fascination with ninjas but quickly learned POW is so much more than that. Master Coleman is revered by his students and parents, because he and Mr. Coleman bring care, attention and fairness to each student. This is not just kicks and punches, throws and belts. It’s life skills: - Communication - Confidence - Teamwork - Accountability - Perseverance - Reporting incidents properly - Speaking to adults Our son is more confident, more respectful and far more capable of talking to adults since having started at POW. He’s also learned some difficult-to-teach lessons along the way: How to deal with disappointment, how to be strong when things are difficult and powering through. As a parent, it’s easy to feel like different things aren’t sinking in with your kids. Having lessons like this instilled by leadership figures like Master Coleman and Mr. Coleman can be hugely influential in your child’s development.
Our 3.5-yr-old and 6-yr-old are both enrolled in the Tigers program. This is our first experience with martial arts, and we've been participating for about four months. Mr. Coleman has a real knack for working with the younger kiddos. He can manage behavior, minimize distraction, make the kids laugh, AND teach content in a 30-minute class better than many preschool teachers. He focuses on the whole person rather than just the execution of the moves and rewards manners, courtesy, focus, effort, and good sportsmanship above perfect execution. He's mindful of making sure the kids have a positive experience and that the families are involved and offering encouragement to the kids. He's also gone out of his way to give a little extra to help our kids learn and have fun. I showed up for a class on a different day with a different time slot than we usually go to right as the class was ending (I remembered the class time wrong). Mr. Coleman gave my boys a special lesson between his other classes just to make sure they got some practice in that day. He also hosted a birthday party lesson for my son's 6th birthday, which all the kids loved. We've had a great experience with Mr. Coleman and all the staff!
