My dog's reactivity made walks unbearable and he could not calm down from the reactive episodes he was having. Alex's initial assessment gave me confidence that this behavior was manageable. I like how he tried to understand who I was and the relationship I was trying to have with my rescue. After the 4 week training program (honestly shocked it wasn't a full 6 weeks) my dog's leash manners were unbelievable and his reactivity was down to a couple of huffs but no fixations. I was able to pick up the training momentum and keep the progress going. What was most important was Alex (and team) introduced us to training tools and their usage. I came out a better owner and my dog's quality of life tripled. He is the happiest boy and now makes friends with all the dogs he sees. Alex made me realize the barking wasn't aggression, it was excitement and the little guy didn't know how to handle all his feelings (relatable). I can't recommend bringing your dog here enough. Alex cares so much about the dogs he trains and cares about the relationship between dog and owner. I didn't feel like my dog was just a "product" being serviced and the shop has no walls so everything is out in the open (nothing to hide). Great addition to the community here in Jersey City.

I can’t say enough about how incredible the whole team at Riverview Bark is. We signed up our 5 year old reactive beagle bull Penny for day training, and in just THREE DAYS we saw a difference. Alex was able to identify Penny’s unique problems, part of which involved retraining us as owners. Together, we worked through her reactivity, separation anxiety and overstimulation… and what we as owners were doing that contributed to those behaviors. Today, Penny can walk by other dogs without freaking out and without pulling, she knows her commands, and has become an overall more calm dog. We are even able to let her off leash in wide open spaces, knowing that she will pay attention to us—something I never thought was possible. I’m so glad we took Penny for classes and would recommend RB to anyone who needs training.

I sent my dog here for a 6 week board and train program. We were having a really hard time with his reactivity and lack of control. From our first meeting, Alex was incredibly informative and gave us a very honest and thorough assessment of our dog’s behavior. After 6 weeks, our dog returned home so much calmer, confident and comfortable with his surroundings. Most importantly, we received tools to continue working with him at home. Bringing our dog to Riverview Bark was the best decision I made since adopting. It’s been life changing. I only wish we had done it sooner.
