The only climbing gym I've ever been to that I'm planning never to return to, unless their route setting practices change. Don't waste your money or time if you are a beginning TR climber: they have at most a couple of climbs for you. I'm intermediate (solid at 5.10+ in my home gym) and was hard pressed to find warm up climbs (only 2 rated 5.8s in the entire gym, and less than a handful of 5.9s). Also, if you are under 5'4", and especially if you are under 5'2", the ratings are not to be trusted. I'm used to a certain amount of this, but it was more pronounced at this gym than any other I've visited. It is annoying/boring to have to make so many dynamic moves where a taller person could *easily* reach because, unlike most other gyms I've visited, due to the way the routes are set, a shorter person can't just compensate with fancier static technique.

Great staff, very friendly and informative. I can with my 2 younger kids and they love it! Awesome routes, great bouldering! Excellent equipment to rent! We had a blast climbing until we couldn't anymore!

I have been debating getting into climbing for years, waiting to find a gym I could really trust. I have found RockSport to be the perfect place to learn this sport! The staff are warm and welcoming. They are not only incredibly friendly, but also highly knowledgeable about climbing and always ready to answer questions and offer support. As someone newer to climbing, I was so grateful for how patient and thorough my instructor, Kit, was. He carefully walked me through each step, answered all of my questions with kindness & patience, and made sure I felt completely comfortable and safe. His knowledge, guidance, and patience made such a difference and gave me the confidence to truly enjoy the experience when first starting climbing. . The gym offers a wide variety of routes to keep things fresh and challenging, along with top-quality, well-maintained equipment. The gym is always incredibly clean, which makes the whole experience even more enjoyable. Alongside climbing, RockSport offers a range of workout equipment, making it easy to round out your training all in one place. If you’re thinking about climbing, or looking for a welcoming place to grow your skills, RockSport is the perfect choice!

Awesome climbing gym! I've climbed here for 10 years and it's changed a lot over the years. In the past 5 years the gym has improved in a lot of ways. There are new routes being set all the time. The shop has expanded, they've added a treadwall and new hang board systems as well. The community is friendly and willing to teach! It's been my favorite place in louisville for many years and I highly recommend trying it out at least once!!!

8/21 edit: management has resolved the issue surrounding off leash dogs. I appreciate their understanding on this and fixing the issue! Overall, this gym is okay. The staff is friendly, the gym is usually clean with very little to no chalk in the air, music is always at a reasonable volume, and amenities are clean and functional. The negatives are the cost, lack of member benefits compared to other gyms in the country, inconsistent rating from route to route, lack of rules enforcement, and how few new routes there are each month. Some members of the gym can be very lackadaisical about the rules. This gym allows dogs, which most of the time is great! However, there are a few members that allow their dogs to roam through the gym with little to no supervision. It honestly makes me uncomfortable to boulder when they're there since I've almost fallen on a dog more than once. This gym costs more and you get less compared to other gyms across the country. Adventure Rock up in Milwaukee is 25 bucks a month cheaper with more top rope, lead, and bouldering. The Touchstone climbing gyms in San Francisco are 7 bucks a month more expensive, but also have much more wall space, saunas, and better workout equipment (and all of that in one of the most expensive cities in the US). The hours at Rocksport are also worse compared to the other gyms, if you want to get a climb in before work, you'll be disappointed. The gym could stand to have some more seating space along with more cubbies to store your stuff while climbing, but that's a pretty minor point when compared to the other issues.
