Had them come in to look at a single 5’ long 2” ABS pipe that broke in my crawlspace(pipe is $20 at Home Depot). Quoted me $7,500. Not sure what the game here is, but people I know have repiped entire 2 story homes for that much. Of course, I called them to ask if they meant to quote me $750. They said no, that that’s the standard price for this work. Why aren’t there more details in the quote? Their rep said that they don’t need to include them. No labor estimates, nothing! I called a licensed independent plumber. He came in, fixed the issue for $500. Please stay away from these people. They wanted to take advantage of this being an emergency and that the layperson doesn’t know about plumbing. Stay away so hopefully there can be honesty back in the trades. Too many swindlers like these people.
On August 23rd, during a heat wave, a technician from Service Hero (David Godinez) told us our AC had a broken TXV valve and needed a new evaporator coil. He said this was why our AC wasn't blowing cold air. The written estimate we received was $4,205. Later, I got a call from John, the owner, who said the "real" price was actually $4,991 with labor--but that he would "honor" the lower quote after noticing from my email that I worked in education. The estimate included no breakdown of parts or labor, offering zero transparency. I also felt like John was pressuring me to make a decision by Sunday night so he could order parts and schedule installation Monday. After his follow-up, I told him we simply couldn't afford it. On September 3rd, another heat wave hit with temperatures over 100°F. Normally, we would have left our dog inside with the AC running while we were at work. But since the AC was still broken, we couldn't. Tragically, our family dog died of heatstroke in the backyard that day, devastating our children. Immediately following this awful incident, we called another AC company for a second opinion. Their technician did a thorough inspection and found that nothing was broken--we were simply out of Freon. He refilled it, charged us $400 total, and our AC has been working perfectly ever since. I am deeply disappointed in the dishonesty from Service Hero. They misdiagnosed the problem and pushed for thousands of dollars in unnecessary repairs. I posted this review to Yelp and they claimed they were going to reach out to me immediately because they wanted to make things right. I want to note that no one from the company has yet reached out to me even though the owner was able to reach out to me directly when he wanted to close the unnecessary $4,000+ deal.
Rooter Hero is always prompt, courteous, and efficient. Jerry was courteous, fast, and gave us only the recommended services and did not try and sell us any nonsense. We trust rooter hero.
So thankful for Pablo! My bathroom sink was so clogged. Pablo showed up on time (which was so important because I left work to get home for this appt), was clean and had booties on before I even opened the door, and even talked me through the problem. He showed me why it wasn’t draining (picture) and told me how he was going to fix it. Fixed it, and now my sink is draining correctly. Didn’t push any upsell and was very professional. 10/10 recommend.
Rooter Hero of Orange County responded to our call and had Pablo Villa on site in one hour to address our backed up sewer main. The first pass with the snake revealed an impasse. Camera inspection with locater showed the blockage to be under a large Oak tree. Diagnosis was made in one hour and a full excavation was started. This was a very difficult project involving removal of flagstone, concrete substructure to dig a 8 foot deep hole with very tight access under a 25 foot tall Oak tree. Discovery showed the original 30 year old sewer main junction was constructed incorrectly allowing tree roots to fill and block the main. Rooter Hero water jetted both our sewer lines feeding the junction into the main in order for us to have a functional home through the weekend before the changeout could be completed. The sewer junction and cleanout were reconstructed and passed inspection by the city. I want to give a special shout out to the technician Ernesto who reconstructed the sewer, did the backfill, rebar and concrete prep. Ernesto was meticulous and his work precise. Much care was taken to save most of the flagstone. There were four technicians that worked on this project and they were very polite and professional. Many thanks to Ernesto, Pablo Villa, Nelson and field supervisor Pedro Padilla.
