There are lots of restaurants near and around the French Quarter, many attractive visually, but few really leaves you with a memorable palette that makes you long for a repeat of that special culinary experience. Those that do are often exclusive and priced accordingly. Ruby Slipper restaurants are everywhere in and around the New Orleans area so many visitors like me would often discount them in favour of a “unique, authentic” establishment. That’s a HUGE mistake that I now regret, having come to NOLA several times already over the years. Here on, Ruby Slipper will be my first and probably, most regular dining spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner!! These pics are from my second meal here in 2 days. Breakfast was shrimp grits with a side of eggs and bacon, accompanied by a Bloody Mary. Dessert was the beignet king cake. Best grits I can recall, and the Bloody Mary with a bacon slice is better than any of the 3 others I had walking around the French Quarter. Today, I downed 6 of them for breakfast!!!! As for the beignet king cake, that’s the best of the best. They said that Cafe Beignet best’s Cafe Du Monde. Firstly, it’s definitely NOT. But the Ruby Slipper take on the King Cake using mini beignets, cream cheese, blueberry compote and cream is BEYOND DELICIOUS. It’s so memorable that I’m going to try and mimic making it when I get home. It’s a new standard for me. Ruby Slipper rocks!!!
I'm not a breakfast person but my sister is so we went their for breakfast. I got the chicken and waffles and they were really good. Made with a thigh. Really juicy. My sister got the shrimp and grits really liked them. But the biscuit she absolutely loved and still hasnt stopped talking about it since we got back home from California. It was so good she ordered a second and I tasted the second. So fluffy. It was amazing the service was great as well. Everyone was friendly from the chef to our server. If you get the chance you need to try this place!!!
Nice place! Really friendly and prompt service at the bar. Food was good, though the raw spinach garnish was a bit wilted and I felt like it got a bit trampled by the rest of the dish and didn’t really have its own place. The fried chicken was really nice and juicy and the poached eggs were perfectly cooked. Overall I think it was a good meal and a nice place to dip in for brunch in the city.
We had breakfast at the Ruby Slipper and had a very pleasant experience. Every staff member was welcoming and very friendly towards our toddler. We were seated promptly (we got there early and by the time we left they were packed with people waiting). Our food was delicious. The cappuccino tasted great too. Highly recommend stopping by!
We loved our meal and the amazing service by Nandi! Everyone was very attentive and kind. Nandi gave us wonderful recommendations and clearly knew the menu well. The food was delicious, reasonably priced and good portions. We had the bread pudding pancakes which were like a mix between French toast and pancakes and were very indulgent. The biscuits and gravy were delicious and the hot honey fried chicken was the perfect balance of heat and sweet. The fried green tomatoes were also great! Would highly recommend!
