Thank you for allow me the Opportunity and privilege to work out at your facility! Rock solid place! Only in town for a few weeks of school at Fort Lee. I’ll definitely be back again one day!
’ve always shied away from gyms because I was afraid I wouldn’t fit in or that I’d look stupid starting my fitness journey. What I’ve learned at RVA Iron (Chester location) is that there are a lot of strong people in this world—and just as many who are still starting. And that’s more than okay. RVA Iron has shown me that you don’t have to be your best yet to belong. Between the top-tier equipment, supportive and knowledgeable staff, and the community my husband and I have found here, I’m pushed every single day to show up and move forward—physically and mentally. If you’re looking for a small-town gym with a big-time vibe, real community, and zero judgment, RVA Iron is it. 💪🔥
This is the gym that made me stop hating gyms. The staff is wicked knowledgeable and genuinely friendly, the place is always spotless, and the vibes are unmatched. I’m forever grateful to this small business for saving me from the soul sucking corporate chaos of big box gyms. This place feels like a real community, not just a room full of machines. Trust me, it’s worth it.
The only gym I’ve ever walked in post collegiate sports that’s gotten me motivated and pumped just walking through the doors. The vibe and energy is immaculate from the employees, members, and the facility itself. There are machines to hit just about every muscle and get a great pump at the Chester location alone. Plus if you ever want to mix it up the East RVA location is just down the road for a totally different feel and setup. Forever grateful for such a great gym and to get away from the corporate gym nonsense.
I visited this gym when it first opened last year, excited to have a fitness facility just 10 minutes from home. Unfortunately, my first impression was underwhelming, and I ultimately decided to stick with my home setup. Now, a year later, I returned for another look, feeling the limitations of my home gym and hoping for an improved experience. While I did sign up for a short-term membership, I still find the gym, for lack of a better word, unappealing. Here’s why: 1. Plate-Loaded Machines: Most machines are plate-loaded, which I personally don’t prefer. Cheaper way to fill a gym, but less convenient for members. 2. Equipment Variety and Condition: The machines come from various manufacturers and show a mix of colors, designs, age…etc. giving the space a mismatched, cluttered look. The free weights plates vary in shape, size, and are heavily worn and faded, with no bumper plates available. 3. Lack of Mirrors: One side of the gym has no mirrors, which is quite unusual and takes away from the typical gym environment where feedback from mirrors can help improve form and technique. Overall, while the gym provides functional equipment, the somewhat disjointed look and setup make it less enjoyable to work out in. It’s like a meal with all the right macros but lacking in presentation. Some investment to unify the look and feel of the space would go a long way. The dumbbells rack is awesome though. It represents what other part of this gym is missing, consistent look and feels.
