Sam was prompt, fair, honest and knowledgeable. He quoted a price to repair my TV over the phone, kept his word even though it took longer and was more complicated to fix. I strongly recommend Sam's TV Repair... call him and he will tell you upfront if it's worth fixing. Five plus stars!!!
I called in to see if my TV was repairable. The person who I spoke to Asked me information about my TV and proceeded to tell me that it was not worth to fix since it was very expensive and would cost more or less the same as the TV. Recommended I just get a new TV. Very honest and open business if I ever need anything, I will be coming here!! 10/10 Recommend.
Don't throw away your broken TV! I have a 14-year old Panasonic Viera plasma TV. One day, a small "pop" and the screen went black. A quick Google search brought me to Sam's TV Repair. While their website focuses on Samsung and LG TV's, Sam had a pretty good idea what my problem was on the very first call (and he was right, of course). He was very clear on what the cost to repair the TV would likely be and it was not a penny more. I dropped off my TV (they work out of the home, which means low overhead and lower repair costs) and Dan called me the next day with a diagnosis and estimated repair time. In less than two weeks I had my TV back, repair cost was spot on the estimate and they accept credit cards! This TV was over $1,000 new and the plasma technology lasts a very long time (e.g., it is not susceptible to burn-in). To replace it, I would need to spend over $1,000 for an OLED to achieve the same picture quality. Total cost of the repair - $350. And one less TV in the landfill! I highly recommend Sam's TV Repair. Honest, transparent, technically knowledgeable and competent, and genuinely nice people.
As a member of the electronics repair industry, I can say that Sam is a true expert. When i need to know anything about engineering in display technology past and present, Sam is the guy i call. Any TV owner here in the twin cities, believe me, we are very lucky to have one of maybe a handful of people left in the country offering TV repair services. If your TV ever ends up passing through Sams TV Repair, you will be well taken care of, i put my reputation on it.
Overall, I’m pretty satisfied with the service I received. My 4K LG TV had its back lights replaced, fixing its primary issue of showing everything with a blue/purple tint. What kept this from being a 5 star service was the lack of proper communication. I dropped off the TV on a Saturday and was told on the spot it would need new back lights. I believe I was told to expect a call on Monday. Tuesday came around so I called that afternoon to see what was up. I was told the TV was just diagnosed that morning and the back lights would need to be replaced. They then asked if it was fine for them to order the part. My thought was, “Didn’t we already know what the issue was? They should have ordered the part as soon as I brought in the TV and they noticed the problem. And why didn’t they diagnose and call yesterday?” Anyway, it then becomes Saturday and I hadn’t heard anything so I called again. Was told the part had just been shipped out to them and would be there soon. Finally the TV was ready on Monday. So yeah, the experience was alright overall since the owner was very friendly and the TV was fixed. But it wasn’t the lightning quick experience other reviews seemed to have, and it took some calling on my part to stay updated about the status of my TV.
