I recently adopted my dog NJ, now named Nova Nyx, from San Diego Humane Society, and I cannot say enough good things about this experience. From start to finish, the staff was incredible. There was a woman named Alexis (or Alexa—I’m so sorry I can’t remember exactly!), and she was truly amazing. She was so compassionate, kind, and welcoming, just a genuinely wonderful human being. You can tell she truly cares about the animals and the people adopting them. I loved her explanation and guidance throughout the adoption process; it made everything feel meaningful, thoughtful, and special rather than rushed or transactional. Nova Nyx is doing absolutely great and has already brought so much joy into my life. I’m beyond grateful to San Diego Humane Society for the care they give their animals and for making the adoption process such a positive, supportive experience. If you’re thinking about adopting, this is the place. 💕🐾
We've adopted our rescued pets here for 60 years and used their end-of-life services. We've visited the vaccine clinics. For our recent fur babies, the Community Vet Clinic has become our choice for regular veterinary care. The vets are very caring, never seem rushed. We just used vet tech service for vaccines. We've scheduled our cattle dog for dental work next month. I'm so glad they offer all these great services, so much more than just adoption. They keep our 4 cats and 3 dogs happy and healthy.
So impressed! The staff were so friendly and compassionate to the dog I wanted to adopt. The process was quick and I felt very welcomed and prepared to go home with a new baby. I can tell that they cared for my little guy while he was in the shelter. I will 100% adopt from SDHS again. They neutered him before he went home and they also offer two free vet visit coupons which really helps with the expenses of getting a new dog. My guy is warming up so fast and is such a treasure. A million thank yous to all the employees, people who donate, and volunteers!!!!
Wow this facility is impressive. So clean and really nice looking. You can tell the animals here are so well cared for! I just adopted two rabbits (lil champ and Peru) who were born at the facility. They were already potty trained for a litter box and quite friendly for being babies still and raised at the Humaine society. They are more than willing to help you learn to take care of your new pet as well which is really nice.
I just want to say thank you so much to Sandra and all the other employees at the San Diego Humane Society for everything y'all do to help people in need to feed their beloved pets. In these hard times it's difficult to buy expensive nutritious food for my cat Mufasa, I'm forced to choose the least expensive which at times I can tell Mufasa wants me to switch it up cause he's tired of eating the same dry food everyday. He meows at me pleading for something else but sadly that's all I can afford to feed him. Now that I can go to SDHS using my Ebike it takes me 35-45 min to get there from National City (depending on how fast I travel) I can get a variety of wet food for him to eat by going everyday (except Mon) to pick up a couple of cans and 1 bag of dry food. So far he has loved the variety I've served him, he's 7.5 years old and for the first 5 years all he ever knew was how to survive living in the streets of Rosarito Mx. Living with me these past 2.5 years has really changed him for the better, he used to be so mean and would scratch and bite. After 11 months of owning him he has transformed into the most sweetest loving cuddly cat, all he wants is lots of love, scratches and num nums. Mufasa is always by my side, he's very obedient, he listens to me and understands when I say no. He understands his name and has become so trusting that he knows he is safe here with me, loud unexpected noises don't scare him anymore. He sleeps through anything now when before he would lift his head and look around to see if there's any danger at the slightest noise. He was beat up by a gang of cats and a dog bite him by the head and shook him, he needed stitches in front of both his ears. He looked like Rocky Balboa when he yelled for Adrian at the end of the movie.
