Absolute hell. Worst place to have a loved one in ever. Nobody answer calls AT ALL. 3 people called at least 30 times collectively and none were answered. Left voicemails asking to be called back to get an update on the condition of my sister. Doctor refuses to talk to her despite being in there earlier than other patients who the doctor talked to. The discharge were delayed compared to what was initially said with little explanation. Taylor, a social worker, was the only one who gave us clear explanation of situation she was currently in, but nothing could be finalized as the doctor won't talk to my sister. AVOID THIS PLACE!
Worse place in the world. Zero treatment or evaluation for a friend's son that was put on a 72 hold for an overdose. Doctor came in, said hi and left. Had him sign documents but didn't let him read them. 16 yrs old. So bad they tried to turn the parents against each other to keep him in on a "voluntary" hold. Made the parents feel like it was mandatory not voluntary. DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY! Just looking to make money off of struggling children.
I was sad seeing all the negative reviews. My son was sent to SJBH ( minor department) Pacifica to be exact and we had a great experience. Taylor the social worker was so kind, helpful, and responsive. She truly was God sent she did everything to help my son during this difficult time for him and my family. Taylor and the team continued to keep me informed on my son's behavior, medication, and overall needs. Doctor GG and nurse Angela, Ryan, and Walter were also great people who helped my son. My son still says Ryan deserves a raise. Hopefully he gets one. Everyone was compassionate, nurturing, and supportive. I personally can say nothing but good things even for the receptionist and other staff that helped my son and my family. My son stayed here for 2 weeks. I hope whoever reads this review understands it takes a lot of trust for a parent to give to other adults to look after your child. And I honestly felt my son was safe in their care. I thank everyone for the help and support you gave my son. I truly pray that he continues to get better as he moves on from Sunol Hills to a PHP program closer to our home. Thank you SJBH and staff thank you Taylor for caring and showing my son compassion. I am forever grateful for you all.
This has been an absolute nightmare. My adult non verbal when in catatonia daughter whom I am the caretaker for ( she’s lived with me her entire life) was sent there from what I’m told. I call twice a day to find out anything…. are they giving her medication… Are they giving her the right medication… Can she speak now? When can she come home… Is she safe… What is a prognosis… Is she getting better… Do they have any questions for me since I’ve been dealing with her disease with her for six years and they say I’m sorry we can’t say anything unless you give me the code. I’m like what code? She can’t speak to give you authorization, but you can bet I’ll be the one they call when they’re ready to release her. That’s if she still alive because I don’t even know if they’re taking care of her. I am moving 3 1/2 hours from this facility and I’ve told them that. They won’t tell me anything. Terrible terrible for the family members even though there are some exceptions by lay for family. I think it’s time for an attorney or the police for a wellness check. What else can I do?
My son was placed at this facility, (minor department), he was here for 7 days. After seeing the reviews I was worried about him being here, since the reviews are pretty negative but the experience he had was very positive and it helped him to get the much needed help he needed. The staff were all very professional and responsive. They tended to his needs and helped us through this very difficult time process. I’m thankful for the work this facility and staff does. The receptionist, nurses, caseworker, and doctors I spoke with were all great! He’s doing better now and I felt compiled to write a review based on our experience.
