As a 50-something picking up the guitar for the first time , I knew I was going to need a patient teacher who balances technique, theory and "fun". I feel so fortunate that I found John, as he is exactly that. SMAs students range from young children to old guys like me, and I see John and his team give the same care and attention to everyone that walks in the door. Whether you're a beginner like me, or an accomplished musician trying to get to the next level, I'd strongly recommend giving them a try.
John Davis and the team at SMA consistently exceed expectations. I’ve seen students under ten years old, students over 80, and everywhere in between. They are building skilled musicians and everyone is having fun along the way!!! Can’t say enough good things about these skilled teachers.
My father, a retired high school music teacher who is now visually impaired, recently had a private guitar lesson with John and we were truly blown away by the care and attention he provided. Not only was John a fantastic teacher, but his kindness, creative approach, and thoughtfulness shown toward my dad made the entire experience positive and meaningful beyond measure. I played guitar as a kid and started lessons with John in January after retiring. He utilizes the perfect blend of technique, theory and songs while encouraging you to experiment & learn. He is always positive and encouraging. Not to mention he’s a phenomenal guitarist and a a great guy!
