I love See's candy. I know that if I need the best variety of fine chocolates,I can go there!! My mother loves chocolates for the holidays and not a bad price just in case you can't afford a lot. These are hard times for some. So, head on over to See's you will not be disappointed, and while you are there you can try a piece of fine candy on the house.
Staff: always friendly, knowledgeable, Location: busy area Parking: hard to find, expect to walk a block or two during busy times.
Free samples but depending on the employee, they offer you the free sample when you come into the store or when you go to the cash register to pay.
Alas, the See's shop on J Street is no longer! It formed a very large part of my young adulthood when I would walk from work downtown to home in midtown - a lovely place to stop half way and fortify myself for the rest of the walk. *But* the See's spirit lives on at the R Street location - same great service, adorable and helpful staff, pristine store. I always make up a pound box of my personal favorites, and believe me, they do not last a week! I do purchase See's online, but the pleasure of visiting a See's store is part of the whole delicious experience. I now live on the East Coast, and there is nothing like See's in my immediate vicinity, and I miss it horribly. Do stop in if you ever find yourself near a See's outlet - the milk chocolate Bordeaux and the Vanilla Nut Cream will bring you to your knees! (Sorry, ate everything too quickly for a photo...)
