We 100% recommend Short Music Studios—amazing teachers, high-quality lessons, and a place that truly makes music fun and meaningful for kids. Both of our kids have been taking lessons here for over 6 years, both piano and guitar, and we couldn’t be happier. Mr. Short was actually their music teacher back in elementary school, and he’s played a huge role in sparking and growing their love of music. Now as middle and high schoolers, they’re still going strong thanks to the awesome teaching and encouragement they get at the studio, and they are even performing some songs together with their buddies who play other instruments at the studio. The other instructors, like Mr. Andrew (who teaches our son guitar) and Mr. Christoph, have also been great. They’ve even come out to support our kids at their school performances, which really shows how much they care. And the kids enjoy going to their teachers’ concerts as well. It’s more than just lessons – it honestly feels like an extended family. The kids’ progress has been amazing – both are great at piano, my son can even sight read piano music, and we are constantly impressed when they show off at home. Our friends and family are always delighted when they hear them play, and our house has slowly turned into a mini music studio – we’ve got over 10 instruments now! That kind of excitement and passion is in large part due to the fun, engaging, and skilled teachers at Short Music Studios. Couldn’t recommend it more!
Mahalo to Mr. Christoph and Mr. Dennis for being such amazing piano teachers! They inspire their students through their love of music and teaching. They find ways to keep students engaged and excited about music. Our kiddos are delighted to learn classical pieces, as well as other songs that interest them.
We had trial classes on piano with several teachers from different music studio last year and decided to take private lessons with Mr. Andrew, and my son really likes it! Mr. Andrew is so fun and patient with little kids who just started learning piano, and my son has been making great progress in the past six months. Mr. Andrew even went above and beyond by creating a sheet music for my son so that he can learn how to play the song from a kids TV show that he likes the most. Mr. Andrew composed the sheet music at the level just right for my son to practice what he has learned, while my son was so excited to be able to play the song that he likes the most. Thank you, Mr. Andrew, for thoughtfully connecting the lessons to my son’s interests and for being such a positive inspiration in his musical learning.
My two sons, age 6 & 8, have been attending the group piano lessons at Short Music Studios for just over six months and we have been blown away at the speed at which they are learning and improving. We were not sure if a one hour group lesson would be best compared to a 30 minute in-home private lesson. However Dennis, the owner, who is at every lesson, has figured out the secret sauce because after an hour of group lessons, my kids are happy and excited about what they learned and want to come home and play some more and share. Jonathan, their other teacher, and Dennis are positive, encouraging and strike the right balance to keep my kids engaged and motivated. Definitely recommend for anyone looking to start their kids out on piano for the first time.
My son has been taking piano lessons with Mr. Christoph for four months now and so far we all love it! You can tell Mr Christoph is passionate about the piano and we love seeing him pass that along to our son. After each lesson he gives me a mini “progress report” on how our son is doing and exactly what to focus on at home during practice which I really appreciate as a parent. Scheduling/rescheduling is super easy and overall I think we found the best studio to nurture our son’s early interest in music. Thanks so much Short Music!
