I look forward to every single class at soma. Being a monthly member allows me to experience their wide variety of classes offerings. I so appreciate the mat storage, clean bathrooms/showers, plenty of props, and genuinely my favorite water in the whole city 😂. Love this studio so much! Shoutout Joanna, Kim, Owen, and Erin. 🧘♀️🩷
This place is the real deal! I wish I didn't live on the other side of the city because I would come here way more. Their yoga classes are the best I've experienced in the Boston area. Thoughtful and energizing flows. Highly recommended to anyone who wants a true yoga class without any of the trendy nonsense.
The most wonderful, inclusive, feel-good studio around. Every time I have walked out of there I have felt happier both physically and mentally. I went back yesterday after months away from the mat and had some anxiety around it, which was immediately aleviated by the kind and warm energy of Rachel Duda, who's Sunday class is the reasons Sundays exists. Full of kindness, grounding, reflection, and some great yoga. Thanks to the community and the staff for also being accommodating when I accidentally booked the wrong class a week ago, and they were met with immediate support, even though it was very much my mistake. Highly recommend this studio for anyone looking to improve their flexibility and lighten their mind. Also, the space is absolutely gorgeous, tucked a staircase away from the hustle and bustle of the North End.
If this review were based purely on the yoga experience alone, my review would be higher. However, I am giving this studio 1 star because of a deeply concerning and unfair pricing policy that the studio explicitly advertises on its website. Which, should be noted, is illegal as it violates the Massachusetts Public Accommodations Law. Soma Yoga offers a substantial, race-based discount (25% off) on all classes and pricing options exclusively to individuals who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color). While I appreciate efforts to increase accessibility, this policy of differential pricing based purely on a customer's race to be a clear instance of pricing discrimination. It creates two separate pricing tiers for the exact same service, which is not only unfair but, violates the principles of equal treatment in public accommodations. Using racial classification to determine how much a customer must pay, fundamentally undermines the welcoming and inclusive atmosphere Soma Yoga claims to promote. Until this discriminatory pricing structure is removed and all patrons are charged the same rate for the same service, I cannot recommend this studio. I hope Soma Yoga will recognize the legal and ethical implications of this policy and adjust their pricing to be truly equitable for everyone.
I needed to rent a private yoga studio for an hour and Soma was extremely accomodating. Even though they’re on a third floor walkup, they also have an elevator available from a different entrance for anyone too tired or unable to walk up 3 flights. We had the backup studio reserved which still provided sunlight thru their exposed brick walls. It was a very welcoming experience with friendly staff. They even validate parking at the haymarket garage of $3 for up to 3 hours! Such a wonderful experience and highly recommend.
