Let’s start by saying that we’ve been trying out new cafes around town lately. After searching Google Maps, we found Speakeasy Cafe today, and I have to say, I am incredibly happy with this find. When we first walked in, I was a bit surprised by how small the space seemed. However, we were instantly greeted in the friendliest way! They asked if it was our first time, told us a little bit about the place, and it turns out they have an amazing seating area downstairs. We decided on breakfast sandwiches and a couple of coffees. After we ordered, they told us to find a spot and they would bring the food to us. The service was wonderful—everyone was so genuinely kind. As we explored the space and found a seat, the food arrived. We were impressed by the presentation alone! The sandwich was a "WOW" moment: it was served on a croissant with eggs, two turkey patties, and a delicious cream cheese spread. My wife and I were shocked by how good it was, especially since we’d ordered without even knowing exactly what was on it. It was well worth it. We actually went back upstairs after eating just to tell them how amazing everything was and to ask what was in the sandwich because it was so unique and tasty. I highly suggest trying Speakeasy if you get the chance. Don’t let the initial look of the neighborhood or the exterior worry you; it almost turned us away at first, but I’m so glad we looked past that. There was nothing to worry about at all. We walked out very impressed with the full experience. I even told my wife I had to take pictures specifically for a Google review!
Stopped in for a coffee meeting and immediately felt like I’d found one of St. Louis’s best-kept secrets. Speakeasy Café has this wonderfully eclectic vibe. And then there’s the wardrobe. Yes, an actual wardrobe with a hidden room. It’s straight out of Narnia, only instead of snow and lampposts, you’ll find a cozy little space that feels made for great conversation and creative ideas. Curious if they rent this space out or if it can be reserved in the evenings. I had a hot tea. The staff couldn’t have been nicer, and the whole atmosphere just invites you to stay awhile. I came for a meeting and ended up wishing I didn’t have to leave.
Really enjoyed finding this hidden gem in the city. The atmosphere is great! The food and drinks were great! Loved everything about this place!
Great chill cafe, with plenty of nooks and crannies. Established in an alleged actual prohibition era speakeasy, the decor and layout fit the bill. Eccentricities abound. Didn't try the food, only came for coffee. Two iced coffees, black, for a hot day and they were excellent. Plenty of flavored offerings and full espresso menu, too. They had ice cream, donuts, pastries, and overheard savory options, too. Definitely a place to hole up on a hot day in the well decorated basement to stay cool. Enjoy a thick, high back chair and relax.
Very nice place! Unique, I have not seen a cafe like this in stl. And plus, they are dog friendly. Lots of coffee selection. I got the protein coffee and a Danish. They have an outside patio, as well a large basement with plenty of seating. Will come back!
