I was interested in upgrading the electronics on my boat. Spoke with Ian and we discussed many options available. Decided on Garmin system with Raymarine auto pilot. Ian ordered and did advise some parts may take a bit of time due to supply train issues. I was worried about the radar since no one seemed to have the newer Garmin Fantom 24 in stock. To my surprise Ian called me and said one came in and was not part of another build, did I want him to hold for me, that of course was a yes. The install went smoothly and everything has been great. His installation work was well done, precise and clean. If you are in need of upgrading electronics I would highly recommend Star Marine. Being a smaller operation I would recommend making an appointment to see him so you don't stop by when he is out in the field working on customers boats. Great guy and always returned my calls.
This was the worst customer service ever. I am in the process of installing a Garmin AIS on my sailboat. I needed some connecting wire and connectors and some advice. I went to Star Marine because of their positive reviews. I spoke to the owner who told me I didn’t buy my electronics from him and it wasn’t worth his time to help me. I said I would be buying all the hardware to complete the job. He again told me it wasn’t worth his time. I am in the marine industry and I will never go to Star Marine again and will never refer anyone to him. All he had to say was he only does installations and doesn’t provide retail sales of the cabling and connectors. I would have understood. Instead he was extremely rude. He could have given some advice and made a customer for life. I then drove to Reliable Marine Electronics In Alameda. Ian McDanial was happy to help. He took 20 minutes and sold me everything I needed. I will use them from now on and refer people to them. I rarely write reviews but feel strongly about this one.
Excellent work very professional hand me in and out of there in less than 7 hours with a brand new Raymarine navigation system would recommend to anybody I know
