Stout's is always a great stop when I’m visiting Pittsburgh. The team is welcoming, the atmosphere is fun, and the room is tough. High-level Jiu Jitsu, hard rounds, and good people. Always look forward to dropping in when I’m in town.
If you’re serious about martial arts, this is the place to train in the Pittsburgh area. Well worth it. Good people too. I see to do nutrition for several of the fighters that went here, and they were always great listeners. We never missed weight. It’s a big facility, and may look overwhelming but I promise everyone there is welcoming.
I've been training here on and off over the past few years. Recently getting more consistent and will say I've been to a few gyms from 18-31 years old and like this gym the most. The instructors are great, people are friendly and always willing to help you as they're learning themselves. It's a great environment to train at any belt/training level for both BJJ and Muay Thai.
Stout is an amazing place to train. I have been training there for almost 2 years. The atmosphere and the coaches are amazing. My two boys take classes there also and they both really enjoy the time spent there. Most of the time we go to the Bridgeville location and the coaches there have been very helpful and positive role models for my two boys. Stout is an all around positive time.
Tomorrow is my last day in Pittsburgh, so I felt it’s time I leave a review for this place. I’ve been training here for around 2 months over summer break, and it’s been super great. The coaches are amazing, everyone is super kind and supportive, the mats are always clean, they have showers downstairs, and there are some very skilled fighters coming out of this gym. The front desk staff are amazing! They explain everything super well, not trying to hide any sneaky fees or cancellation policies. I felt like the membership was a little pricey (on par with prices in San Diego, where I’m from), but it was totally worth it to me, and they even have a student discount that makes it more affordable. This is just standard for most MMA gyms 🤷♀️ The classes are split up by skill level, but the distinctions describe the techniques learned rather than the students’ skill levels. Even the most advanced students take the fundamentals classes, because they way the coaches teach the “fundamentals” (i.e more basic techniques) is still useful for anyone. I highly recommend!!! I doubt I will be back in Pittsburgh again, but in the off chance that I do visit, I will make sure to stop by :D
