Devon was my technician. Really cool, down to earth and the quotes were extremely reasonable. Decided to go for 2 outlet installs and not the 3rd because I thought about how I was going to rearrange the garage in that moment. Very pleasant experience and he was very professional.
Swartz was acquired in November 2025. I do not recommend this company. Disregard any great reviews prior to that date—it’s a fundamentally different business now. Summary: Electrician was here less than an hour, flipped some switches in my electrical box, and charged me ~$400. In contacting the company, I was ultimately offered $150 on the condition that I gave my technician a five star review. My voice being heard is more valuable to me than $150. I had used this company prior to the acquisition/merger (technically the acquisition happened Nov 4th, and my appointment was on Nov 20th or so when I assume the new business policies weren't in place), and they were phenomenal. I thought I’d found my “no-brainer”—any time I needed electrical work done, I’d go to Swartz. Based on my recent experience, I would never do business with them again. Post-acquisition, there is a ~$58–$68 fee that is simply a dispatch charge to get an electrician to your door and does not include any actual work or troubleshooting. That fee itself is reasonable. What followed was not. A simple electrical issue was escalated into an unnecessary “advanced diagnostic” costing $381 (also new as of the acquisition I believe), only for the electrician to eventually discover that the problem was just partially tripped breakers that needed to be fully reset. That is the most basic troubleshooting step and should have been done immediately. There is no safety rule, code requirement, or licensing restriction that prevents an electrician from resetting a breaker during an initial assessment. An electrician might reasonably pause only if there is evidence of burn marks, overheating, a breaker that immediately re-trips, water intrusion, known damaged wiring, or commercial lockout–tagout requirements. None of those conditions applied here. Any suggestion otherwise reflects company policy or sales process—not an industry standard. Instead of resolving the issue upfront, I was pushed toward advanced diagnostics and then told the $381 diagnostic fee could be waived if I agreed to replace three plug-in breaker components for approximately $1,200. The components were on the older side, but still functional. They will one day die, and when they do, it will not be Swartz Electric replacing them. This experience felt like a textbook upsell rather than competent, methodical troubleshooting. Nothing about this situation justified advanced diagnostics or costly replacements. The issue required no parts, no special tools, and no advanced expertise. Given how different the experience was before the acquisition, I strongly suspect many of the positive reviews reflect the company as it used to operate, not how it does now. Proceed with extreme caution. Update: I did attempt to contact the Swartz and here's how the process went: 1. I called Bethany and picked up. This was at 11:15 am. She put me on hold to contact dispatch. 2. Dispatch told Bethany that the next step would be to have my technician chat with me and explain all the things he did. 3. I told Bethany I had a good understanding of what was done, I just didn't understand how an electrician would miss something so basic and escalate to the "advanced diagnostics" test. I told her this would not solve my issue, and it wouldn't be going away. 4. She escalated me to her manager, who called me back within 30 minutes. 5. At 11:46am, I chatted with the manager, who once again tried to convince me why the work was worth $381. After a 13 minute conversation, I finally threw out a number that I'd be satisfied with a $150 refund. The manager had to check with his manager to get the refund approved. 6. The manager called me back at 2:19 pm, and said something along the lines of, "I do agree that we likely overcharged you a bit." I was offered the partial refund on the condition that I posted a five star review for the technician. I did not accept, obviously. Look, Jack the technician was great: personable, punctual, professional. He doesn't choose the business practices. It's the business practices I take issue with.
We love Swartz Electric, and the technician Robert that helped us did an incredible job! Robert is very knowledgeable, friendly, and polite. Robert Duncan is a very professional and pleasant young man. He did an electrical inspection per our service contract. He found numerous items that needed attention. We were pleased to have him address several items. We'll be getting more work done in the future! We'd be glad to recommend him.
Jack did a great job with minimal debris and he cleaned up afterwards. He was friendly, knowledgeable and on time. He told us about some other options and also things to avoid, which we appreciated. I’d book him again any time and can recommend him highly!
