I've been coming to this golf course for 68 years and it's still a great place to practice and play golf. It has a full 18- hole course along with a 9-hole par three course. It now also has a frisbee golf course set up that annually draws the national frisbee golf crowd. For a public course it's maintained very well. My favorite area of the course is two pat-4 holes that are lined by 100-year-old oak trees. This is a shady and serene area of the course. I am critical of their decision to change the sequence of 9 holes. They changed the hole sequence a few years ago so you now end the front nine on what was always the 17th hole. You then start the back nine on what used to be the par 5 finishing hole. I believe they did this to make sure the golfers have to go by the course restaurant. Under the original course layout sequence, you had to walk or take your cart about 100 yards to get to the restaurant. They used to have a snack bar by the original 9th hole bathroom, but not enough customers purchased items from it so it closed down, forcing golfers to get drinks and/or food items at the restaurant.

Excellent municipal course. As far as I can tell from my research, it is the cheapest 18-hole course in San Joaquin County. The monthly memberships for both the 18-hole course and the 9-hole Executive Par 3 course are very affordable. At the time of writing this, it is $180 a month for (mostly) unlimited walking of the 18-hole, and $99 a month for (mostly) unlimited walking of the 9-hole course. There are no initiation fees. The landscape is gorgeous, with wildlife abundant, and large open fairways that are very forgiving for a slice or fade. Scattered ponds and bunkers add difficulty to the relatively flat layout of the course, which will challenge more experienced players as well. This course has been a staple of the City of Stockton since 1952. By playing this course, you can be sure your green fees go towards helping the community and keeping golf accessible for future generations of San Joaquin Valley residents.

Great experience playing here on Saturday. The course was in fairly good shape and the pace of play was fantastic. Also - would like to shoutout the guy at the clubhouse on Saturday morning (didn't catch his name). I mistakenly booked my tee time for Sunday instead of Saturday. He ended up helping me squeeze into a different time slot. Amazing customer service! I will definitely be back (and hopefully shoot a better score LOL)

Probably the best pure Par 3 course I've ever played in, layout is good, condition is good, also landscape is good, particularly the lakes around Hole 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8, plus the nice house 🏠 surrounded by the lake, such an enjoy moment to play short games here. I like particularly Hole 6, 200 yards Par 3, need to tee off across the lake, plus the green is hidden in the back of few big trees, very skeptical design while a lot of fun. The most important thing is that there's a lot of trees provide you the cool and chilling shadows when waiting to tee off of your next hole, lovely.

I went this weekend for the Professional Disc Golf Tournament. My friend Jeffery McCormick is one of the professionals, and I was able to walk with him and 4 other pros. This isn't our beach Frisbee from years gone by. These guys are so good and amazing to watch. I paid extra for a VIP ticket so I could be on the course. After Jeffery's round, we had lunch and then watched the top disc golfers tee off. In this group was the #1 in the world. The gallery was huge walking behind these 5. It was very cool being that close to these guys. Hearing the disc whizzing by was incredible. Their accuracy was so good, but these guys do this every day. I have a few discs and have been out a couple of times. Sure makes me want to do this more. Even at my age of 66, I feel strong enough to give it a go. Pickleball and Disc Golf should keep me young for a few more years. Swenson is a nice course for Golf. It's been a long time since I golfed here.
