Just did a pickup order at Takedon. The food is so so good. It's halal Japanese for certain items. I checked with them on what is what and how it's prepared as I know Japanese cuisine. Teriyaki chicken Chicken Japanese curry Chicken karaage (fried chicken) Ajitama egg Edamame Miso soup Japanese cheesecake Are all halal because they use halal chicken and cook all of these items separately. Only these items are what I can confirm are halal. Anything else that is Katsu or beef are not. They use Sargent farms for their chicken (I saw the boxes and they showed it to me). They only use a separate fryer for the karaage only so anything else fried will be in a mixed fryer. Their kitchen is open so I was able to watch them as they cook (it's more of a take-out spot). They were very open, transparent, and kind with explaining how they do things. They did their research and it was great to see how they do everything separately. They also ask for any allergies. Their flavours are very authentic to Japanese cuisine. It's really good!! The curry was flavourful and so was the teriyaki chicken and the karaage!!
These folks are really amazing. I've never been there but I have ordered online a lot many times and the food always hits the spot! I generally get the ginger pork or beef donburi and their ajitama flavoured egg, and they are my absolute comfort meals. It's always fresh, and consistently good. I ask for some extra sauce each time because the first couple of times I ordered it I found it dry, and they always, always indulge. I think this is a bunch of very kind folks running a quality establishment. My only mini cons is that with taxes, even without tips, it comes to 30+ dollars while ordering in, and this becomes quite a pinch on the pocket for a single size meal, especially when you add delivery person's tip on top. However, their quality and taste makes me order it repeatedly despite that. 100% will keep ordering!
The food was so tasty! I ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl, chicken karaage, and jasmine green tea. My friend got the pork katsu curry. All the food was so delicious and exactly what we needed. The lady who greeted us was so friendly and kind too. We will definitely be back and will bring our friends!!
Absolutely amazing food! Was craving Japanese without really knowing what other options existed besides sushi. This was mind blowing. I had tried the Gyoza dumplings, takoyaki reminded me of home on the East coast, Japanese croquettes and chicken teriyaki. Absolutely loved everything. The presentation was very nice! The owner Jenni was a sweetheart making great recommendations for us. We sat outside and enjoyed our meal at the picnic tables at the back. I will definitely be coming back for more!
I think this was the most delicious meal I have ever had. I finished it so quickly and felt satisfied. Everything tasted so flavourful and fresh, I couldn’t get enough! The ajitsuke egg was delicious and my god I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. I will be ordering again!!! ♡( ◡‿◡ )
