Just visited the new store on Crocket street in Fort Worth. While it is new, bright and shiny, it is only 1/3 the size of the old store on SW Loop 820 in Fort Worth, which means only 1/3 the items. You can no longer pick through the leather you want as most all the leather is now wrapped in paper and tagged. Also parking is a nightmare as this is one street over from the busy 7th street area. Street parking is the only thing avaliable unless you want to use one of the parking garages that are several blocks away and walk quite a distance. The 1st 2hrs of parking is free streetside, then you have to pay. I was disappointed in the selection of products, several of which I buy quite often that are no longer available in the store and only available through Tandy's website, but under $150 and you have to pay anywhere between $10-$20 in shipping cost when ordering online. Not sure how long this location will last given all the aforementioned issues.
Everyone here is friendly and helpful. They stock a wide selection of leathers and notions. They also offer classes for all skill levels and many are no cost. I love how easy this location is access and get in and out and will miss it when they have finished moving. However I look forward to seeing the new store and all that location will have to offer.
I’ve been to Tandy Leather numerous times, and Elizabeth is always so friendly and helpful! She makes every visit a great experience. Recently, Eric helped me sign up for the Jim Linel workshop, and it was absolutely amazing. Such a valuable and inspiring event — I can’t wait for more workshops like it!
Thank you Charles for your wonderful help and advice on products and technique of using Fiebing’s ProDye and other products to dye my sorry Fries boots that look brand new now! Thanks to Mel who also helped me! What a wonderful establishment. I wish I lived closer to take some classes.
What a super cool store! They do events, classes, have the coolest people to help with your projects, and also sell really neat stuff! If you need some stingray skin this is the place, how about some cow, maybe a bit of lizard? The possibilities are absolutely endless. I love the leather making kits that are numbered by difficulty so you can start and have some fun. Also you must come here for the museum in the back, wow! This needs to be advertised more what a gem! Amazing history of the craft and the company we spent hours here looking at the exhibits and shopping. Thank you so much!
