I got a tattoo from Adriaan about a week ago, and it was a meh experience. As a person he was super nice and chill. But my first red flag was that he automatically used numbing cream (which is known to mess with needle depth and healing..not always but often), he didn't check in before applying it, if he had asked I would have said no, but with this being my 2nd and being fairly young I was scared to bring it up. As we went on everything was fine, lines were a teeny bit wiggly but I expected them to thicken out as they healed. Then when we got to filling in the black areas, they were spotty. Some gaps in the filling, and he didn't notice. Said he was finished. I told him no and that he missed spots (gave him the benefit of the doubt), so he filled them in a bit more and said he thought it looked finished. A week later and the peeling stage is finished. I've been washing twice a day with gentle unscented soap and lotion as recommended. And it still looks a bit uneven and patchy. Overall not a great experience, definitely could've been way worse. But nonetheless experiencing some tattoo let down. And since I don't live on the islands, I won't be able to get touchups unless someone else miraculously agrees, or I wait several years to go back. TLDR: Maybe consider somewhere else, unless you aren't as picky as me when it comes to tattoo quality. I will add a picture when fully healed (Side note: the receptionists are some of the nicest people ever)
Molina was my tattoo artist. His work I saw online was amazing which is why I scheduled. He was very helpful with his input and to turn my vision into a masterpiece. The shop itself is very spacious and clean as well.
Tina was awsome in helping me get booked and the right artist for what I was looking for. Keith drew an amazing hook design and the whole thing was painless. Very nice shop. Clean and friendly. Definitely consider these folks if wanting a tattoo on Oahu.
I have now been tattooed by Huevo twice during my trips to Hawaii, and I honestly would not trust my skin to anyone else. He is incredibly talented at what he does and the quality of his work speaks for itself. Every session has been such a great experience. Huevo is funny, friendly, and makes you feel comfortable the entire time. The atmosphere is always welcoming and positive, with everyone being so kind and easy to be around. It never feels awkward or rushed, just good vibes and great energy from start to finish. I will absolutely keep coming back to visit Huevo and continue working on my sleeve every trip to Hawaii. If you are looking for amazing work and an even better experience, Huevo is your guy.
Top quality customer service! It’s our 10 year anniversary and I wanted to do something special so why not get tattoos. After researching tattoos shops and local Hawaii artist I came across Tattoolicious. Their work blew me away and needless to say I was hooked and knew I’d found the shop I was looking for. I talked to their receptionist and booked an appointment with one of their tattoo artists through phone and text messages. We flew into Hawaii on a Thursday and had a sit down meeting with our tattoo artist. Went over what we were looking for and confirmed the day. We were ready to get inked! The day of our appointment we received a call from the studio saying our tattoo artist had a family emergency (we are praying all is well) and had to cancel. We were bummed and a bit disappointed, but we understood. The receptionist gave us a few options. One of which was to get it done by the owner himself. That’s all I needed to hear we were back in the game. Stoked that Sean McCready was stepping up to do our tattoos — it’s a testament to quality customer service. Sean went above and beyond even stayed until after closing hours to complete the work of art we have marking our 10 year anniversary. 🚀 🪐. Mahalo Sean and Tattoolicious 🤙🏽 * photos to follow after it heals up*
