We pulled in to use the vacuum to clean out the rental car. There was a man standing out front of the store with his pants pulled down, no underwear on and you can guess where his hands were. I couldn't even stop the car.
Car wash seems to be broken June 3rd. 3pmThe attendant seemed to be in denial about the machine being broken. I purchased the wash, wax and dry. The wash rinsed my car 4 times with just water, then told me to exit without drying. The whole roof of my car was completely soaked in water, and I told the attendant multiple times that the drying fans never turned on, they kept telling me the machine works fine and offered to sell me a towel so I can dry my car.
I came to the Texaco at 743 N King St, Honolulu, HI 96817, at 6:30pm on Saturday Jan 25, to fuel up and wash my rental van. The attendant, "AFOA," initially refused to make eye contact when we first came in to pay for gas in person because the card read was not working outside. I stepped back inside to ask if the car wash was working because it was completely dark and unlit; she said yes without looking up. She was loudly watching a show on her phone on the counter. We could not get the car wash to work. There is no card reader. We attempted to use cash, and it would not accept our money. There was nothing to explain why. I went back inside and stepped up to the counter and said, "Hello, does the car wash only take cash?" AFOA said, "WHOA, you are freaking me out, man. Don't be coming up and getting in my face like that." It completely took me by surprise; I must have distracted her from her show, but her overreaction lead me to believe that she was impaired. I repeated my inquiry, she then stated that we could pay inside or the carwash machine only takes $1 bills. I asked her, "Don't you think that's information we needed to know when I asked about the carwash?" She said, "I answered your question perfectly well! You know, you're just like all of them tourists that come here, demanding shit. I'm going to close the carwash in 15 minutes. Do you want one or not?" I said, "Ma'am, I'm simply asking for customer service." She continued to berate me, and then asked if I knew what a statement in Hawaiian meant, then said "I didn't think so." I said, "Ma'am, I lived her for almost 5 years, and I'm asking for customer service and a carwash." I handed her my $11, then asked her what her name is. She stated AFOA, spelled it, then asked me if I needed her to write it down. I told her, "No thank you," then said "Mahalo" as I was walking out the door (it's thank you in Hawaiian) and she started shouting something else at me. Easily the worst customer service I've ever had at a Texaco, & the worst customer service I had in Hawaii.
Appreciate this car wash as it's the closest one to chinatown and downtown. And as so, there's always a line of at least 3 cars waiting. It's best to go around peak travel times. You have to pay inside, and they give you a code to put in the machine when you pull up. Super friendly staff, and it's a good price, and it gets the job done. $9, $13, or $18, depending on the level of cleaning you want, but it's all displayed inside at the counter.
Three levels of car wash priced at $9, $13, or $18. Sign says machine only takes $1 and $5 bills but that is wrong. It only takes $1. Had to go inside to pay and get a code for the machine. Employee said the machine isn't supposed to take cash and all washes are supposed to be paid inside. If that is the case then there should be a sign up saying so and the machine should not be accepting cash. Makes it pain having to go inside when you are the next car in line and you have a line of cars behind you.
