We took our Rottweiler mix for his shots and regular wellness check and received the worse treatment. Our pup is about 112lb so he is quite large, but he is a sweet gentle dog, great with people, kids and other animals. When checking in we were basically asked if we could afford the services, soon after a dog in the lobby barked at our dog and instead of taking the other dog aside they took us into a separate waiting room and muzzled my pup. Techs seemed scared and nervous to handle him which I’ve never experienced before (vet techs should LOVE all animals no?) I’m sure one of them said “EW” when my pup licked her hand. They only gave him 1/2 shots he was supposed to get and they said they weren’t able to draw his blood. They sent us home with incomplete services and a $400+ bill and they wanted us to sedate him and bring him back for the rest of his shots and check up but we will not be back. Judgmental, bad with large dogs and extremely expensive. City Way on Mass ave completed his shots, treated him with love, kindness and spoke to us with respect. Not sure what made the techs at Downtown Vet treat us and our pup so horribly but I’m hoping it had nothing to do with his breed or the fact that we are people of color??
I have been bringing my pup to The Downtown Vet for years and just adore them! They are always so kind and compassionate and patient with us which is why we choose to keep returning even though we've moved further away and it's a bit of a drive. Worth it!
Dr. Buchanan and all of his other vets and staff are top-notch. Their expertise, love for animals and compassion is beyond compare. We are so blessed Dr.Buchanan has been our vet for numerous dog babies of ours.
If I could give Downtown Vet 10 stars, I would give them 11. Every time we go in (and I have two very anxious dogs) they go above and beyond to make sure my guys are as comfortable as possible. They also do the vaccinations in the room with you there, versus taking them to the back area. I like this a lot because I can comfort my pets during this process. I've never waited more than 5-10 minutes to get seen, so they stick to their schedule. All of the staff are kind, patient and seem to genuinely enjoy working there. I've never had a bad experience and recommend them to everyone I know that has a pet. I volunteer at a local animal shelter and always pass along their info to anyone that needs vet services. Cannot recommend enough!
I can’t say enough good things about Downtown Veterinarian and Dr. Wiggors. She and her staff are simply the best! Dr. Wiggors is incredibly patient with my cat, Olivia, and always takes a proactive approach to her care. They don’t just treat Olivia; they make sure to get to the bottom of any issues she has. The thoroughness and compassion shown by Dr. Wiggors and her team give me great confidence in Olivia’s health and well-being. Thank you for your exceptional care!
