First time at the hyped Gypsy Poet. We got the margherita “the queen” and paid about 17 bucks. It was good but truly nothing extraordinary. There is certainly better pizza in the city. I like that the use a brick oven pizza and make every pizza to order. they have vegetarian, vegan and gluten free friendliness— but again it’s nothing special here. As far as the atmosphere, I enjoyed it, it could be a nice hangout spot. I would see myself enjoying the weather outside in the warm weather. Parking is $5 unless you find somewhere to park alongside the street!
Update: owner notified me that the worker just went into the stall to retrieve her phone and that’s why it looked like she didn’t wash her hands, so it was just bad timing. Update again A few days later: Not even a small thank you as a kind gesture from the owner for changing this review after a weird explanation was given to me so I am knocking the stars back down to 1. Owner is only concerned about the ego and not the customers. A word of advice: People pay for the experience- not just the food. I can make better pizza at home for a fraction of the price. Stop undermining all your customers when they have a bad experience. A pleasant experience is just as important as the food. Old: I am really sad I can’t give this place a higher review- but let me explain why. Food was great, the people working the front was great. Halfway through my dinner- I went to the bathroom. One of the ladies working in the back (putting the pizza together) went STRAIGHT from the TOILET to back to work! No washing hands- nothing! At that point my dinner was totally ruined and I basically wanted to vomit. 🤢 so gross! I NEVER not wash my hands after using the restroom and that lady is preparing food!!! What the heck!!! So my experience unfortunately was totally destroyed. I couldn’t finish my pizza because all I could see was bacteria after that point 😭
The food was amazing! We had the Pepperoni pizza and both desserts, it was all sooo good. The place is super cute, perfect to hang out with family, friends or have a casual date. I love that they give the sides next to the pizza, it tastes really fresh and I think is ecofriendly which it’s a great detail
This place has great artisan pizza along with a lively environment to complement it! We ordered the Fancy Backpacker which was delicious. They gave us fresh slices of cheese and red pepper flakes to use at our will which was a nice plus. There was a DJ playing live music when we visited which really added to the atmosphere. Overall fantastic place to have dinner with friends or to visit for a night out! We’d love to come visit again to try out the other pizza options.
Was pretty excited to try this place as it’s highly rated. Was pretty excited when I saw my favorite combo on the menu. Italian sausage and onion pizza!!! And white pie. My two favorites actually. I was so disappointed!! This pizza was so bland! No flavor. Almost no sausage, ricotta was spread super thin And had no flavor. The shallots were flavorless. Just honestly not good. We had the margarita pizza as well which was a cheese pizza with 6 small balls of fresh mozzarella on each slice that were entirely cold!! I’ve eaten a lot of really great pizza in NYC, Italy, Buenos Aires, etc. This doesn’t even make the top 100.
