2nd visit 4 pm on Wed. nice and quiet I had the chicken enchiladas and my wife had the Mexican pizza which was more like a fried tortilla with chicken etc. The prices seemed less expensive - $20 for a main course. Like before, the food is not your typical Mexican food. ---------------------------------------- The chairs are padded on the bottom and a flexible back to make the seats some of the most comfortable I've ever had when eating out. The room is relatively quiet, cool and has a nice ambiance. Our waitress, Sam, was very helpful and friendly and made the experience a great one. For three people, we had two appetizers and one main course - the wagu strip steak. We like the way we could share all our dishes between the three of us. The steak was delicious and even the beans and rice were tasty and different than what you would probably get in a typical Mexican restaurant. The chocolate cake and ice cream was again a little different and a bit dry. This is not your typical Mexican restaurant, even the chips and salsa are different, but tasty. If you like a slightly different Menu, give this place a try. We liked it.
Bow to the queen! This place will leave you stuffed and happy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Mexican STL is an absolute gem. Every single thing we ordered was outstanding, from the first bite to the last sip. We started with the tuna carpaccio, which was fresh, bright, spicy and beautifully balanced — the kind of dish you don’t expect to find at a neighborhood Mexican restaurant, but now you’ll crave it everywhere. The shishitos were perfectly blistered with just the right amount of heat and salt. For mains, the asada tacos were next-level: tender, flavorful steak, warm tortillas, and toppings that let the meat shine without overpowering it. Dessert sealed the deal — the tres leches was rich, fluffy, and not overly sweet, easily one of the best I’ve had in St. Louis. And the drinks? The Presidente and skinny margarita were both excellent — balanced, not sugary, and clearly made with quality tequila and fresh ingredients. Great food, great drinks, and a vibe that feels elevated without being stuffy. This place is officially on our regular rotation. 🌮🍸
I went here tonight with my husband. We made a reservation for 7pm, so we only had a few minutes to wait for a table; others were being told 45 minutes. The atmosphere was great — beautiful lighting and understated decor. We ordered guacamole and queso, and while we liked the guac, the queso was very strange and unlike any we'd ever seen. It was like one big lump of cheese surrounded by a thin but flavorful cheese soup. No matter how much we stirred and tried to mix in that cheese, it just stayed in one big lump. It was definitely not something you could dip chips into. Aside from that, the rest of our food was decent. I had the barbacoa beef bowl, which had some good flavors but was a little too salty. My husband got the asada tacos, which he enjoyed. Our biggest disappointment had to be the queso — we both would have liked to drizzle some onto our food, had it been creamy and better. That would have elevated the overall meal by quite a bit.
The Mexican on Watson has a really nice, clean interior with a comfortable vibe as soon as you walk in. The service was solid and the staff was welcoming. The food, though, didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The dishes looked good, but the flavors felt a bit flat and more on the Americanized side rather than authentic Mexican cuisine. I was hoping for a little more seasoning and depth. The highlight of the meal was definitely the margarita — excellent and really well made. Overall, great atmosphere and drinks, but the food could use a boost in flavor.
She’s spicy. I love this spot because there are so many gluten-free options. My cousin is celiac and she can’t even have any cross contamination. They accommodated my family of eight before our outing at Grant‘s farm. The service was so sweet. Our family has so many dietary restrictions. I’m pescatarian, Alyssa is gluten-free, Adrianne is vegetarian. We were a mess, but they were so nice. We started with the queso fundito. It’s the thick strongly cheese. Wow I am so in love. Then got the shrimp enchiladas. They were sooooo spicy. My brain said don’t stop eating. Fantastic dinner.
