Always a pleasure to make the drive from San Jose for the best San Francisco historical dining site and the best cioppino on the globe. Ask for a little chopped up sarono on the side. You're welcome. Always great service and family friendly atmosphere.
I ordered the lobster roll with french fries as the side. We usually love the old clam house but this time, the fries were too salty to eat and the rolls lobster meat was similar (I had my family check that I wasn’t exaggerating, they confirmed) so I would bot order this dish from them or recommend to anyone but the delivery was fast, arrived still hot.
Very good food, service and decor. The food was indeed very good with one of their speciality dishes the mussels and the clam chowder. On the menu there are chicken nuggets (they are very good and come in a faire amount). We also tried the lobster roll (with fries) that was very tasty and delicious. The staff is super friendly and polite. In terms of seatings there is only indoor seating. There is street parking that is usualy avaliable but tricky to find. Over all eating in a 1861 building with awesome food and great staff is worth the price.
Such a classic San Francisco spot! The Old Clam House has that perfect mix of local history, great seafood, and warm hospitality. The warm clam soup they serve as a starter is absolutely delicious, and the Dungeness crab is a must. The clams and garlic bread are fantastic too, and the old-school charm makes it feel like you’re stepping back in time (in the best way). Definitely worth a visit if you want a true SF dining experience.
Overall great experience, love that there’s a seafood restaurant in this area. Restaurant is decorated well, and service is good. Ordered the fried calamari, clams, risotto, and cioppino. The calamari was a bit on the saltier side but good portion and fried well. Clams were my favorite dish, super fresh and flavored well. Risotto was fantastic as well, lobster tail was not overcooked, and generous amount of seafood. My partner got the cioppino and it did look like it was on the smaller portion for the price, but he said the flavor was good. Overall, would come back!
