I’ve been a member of this gym for about a year and a half and have generally enjoyed the space, but I recently had an interaction that left me feeling disappointed and uncomfortable. I would use the gym as a regular member but seek personal training elsewhere. I was working out in the turf area—an area that personal training uses when sessions are happening, but that members often use when it’s empty. In all my time here, I’ve never seen staff enforce this rule against member use when no trainers are present. I want to highlight that in practice, members use this space even when there are trainers in here too. The space is large and there is a lot of equipment in here that is not found in other parts of the gym. During my workout, where I was using a barbell, a trainer approached me and interrupted me multiple times. Rather than asking how many sets I had left or politely requesting the equipment, he simply declared, “We’re going to use that,” even though there was an identical barbell available right next to us. He then began speaking negatively about me to his client and other people in the vicinity while I was there, because I pointed out to him that there was the same exact barbell steps away, which felt very unprofessional and unnecessary. What made the situation worse was my attempt to address it with the personal training manager, Taylor. As I explained what happened, he repeatedly interrupted me with questions framed in a way that dismissed his trainer's inappropriate actions while making me out to be the first aggressor. When I asked if I could finish responding to his first questions, and without interjection, his tone escalated quickly and he became aggressive and accusatory in talking down to me. I left the interaction feeling that, had I been a different type of person bringing up the same issue, the conversation might have gone very differently. With me, there was lack of a tone of respect and listening which is concerning in a customer-facing role. Based on this experience, I would advise caution when considering the personal training services here. The rest of the staff is amazing. The manager, David is great and certainly respects his patrons, and Rose is respectful and takes care of the gym. I cannot say the same for the personal trainers and their manager. Some retraining on communication and customer service—or assigning certain staff away from direct customer interaction—would go a long way toward improving member experience.
I've had such a great experience at this health club for the past 5 years! The instructors are knowledgeable, encouraging, and make every class engaging for all fitness levels. The facility is always clean and well-maintained, which makes working out so much more enjoyable. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Even the other members are supportive and create a positive, community-like atmosphere. Lacey is an incredible spin instructor. It's a place where you feel motivated and valued--highly recommend!
I absolutely love this gym! The classes are excellent, and the staff and trainers are always so friendly and encouraging. The Warrior Yoga class is especially amazing—it’s quickly become my favorite. One thing I really appreciate is that the gym is rarely crowded, so there’s always equipment available when I need it. It’s such a positive, motivating environment, and I couldn’t recommend it more!
Literally the cleanest gym with all new top-tier equipment they offer almost every type of fitness classes, including trainers, and attentive staff. My favorite place in the city is “THE PARKS” gym on the Lakefront and Allan Toussaint. Rose the attendant at front desk is amazing! They deserve—-more stars. Go check it out, they never disappoint. I believe they do a free tour and have multiple packages for personalized—gym memberships. THANK ME LATER. Cheers!’
I have done training in several gyms. And I rate Parks health & fitness as one of the best gym I been to. It’s so clean So well, maintained the manager Mr.David is so nice so is the Other employees. If you are a person that doesn’t like gyms that are always packed. This is the gym for you Machines are always available when you need them. You barely see the gym really packed. They have an amazing sauna room as well. I can’t live without it. You can also bring a friend if you ever want to they can get 3 free days for try out. The only down side I will give in this review is that I dislike and Dont appreciate it that this gym is when I Applied for it. I notified DAVID that I have a Epilepsy and I would need to carry my bag due to medical reason in case I have a seizure at the gym. He was good with it. He was fine that I can carry it and everything else. But here and there I always have staff bothering the hell out of me about my bag like Rose and some other dude Which I do my best to ignore them But I get very aggravating between My workout when I’m trying to do my exercise in peace and not be bothered
