The rink itself is very spacious, which makes skating feel comfortable and not too crowded. It’s a great place for kids and beginners to practice. I also appreciate that there are arcade games available—perfect for kids who need a break from skating or siblings who want something else to do. The only downside for me is that they charge $5 per person for spectators who aren’t skating 🥹. It would be nice if parents or non-skaters could watch without an extra fee. My husband and I did not skate today and we paid $10 because we needed to go inside and supervised my 7 year old daughter 🥲
I’m constantly thinking of ways to keep my family active, minimize our time spent on screens, while having fun. Thankfully, one Saturday afternoon my son expressed interest in wanting to go skating. We have a skating rink in close proximity to our home; however, it is fairly small and closes it’s doors at 5pm on Saturdays. Therefore, we decided to make the slightly longer drive to The Rink. Once the three of us arrived, we were greeted by a very friendly employee who processed the admission and skate rental fees. After my wife and son obtained their skates (I brought my personal pair), we proceeded to locate the lockers for our shoes. We found the automated lockers that costs $5…yes it is expensive for lockers, but I was more concerned that our fairly pricey shoes did not get stolen. Once our shoes were secured, we made our way to the rink floor. I absolutely love the size of this rink, it allows for individuals of various levels of expertise to co-exist in one place. In the past, I have been to some rinks that are so small that you’re afraid that you would topple over little people learning how to skate (not saying that it couldn’t happen here – it just seems less likely). While skating, I observed something that I have yet to see at a skating rink…parents walking (no skates) on the rink guiding their little ones. I’m not complaining about this, just mentioning it for anyone reading this and wondering how they can ensure that their little ones are safe while skating. This made for a perfect family activity/outing and I burned 522 calories during our 1.5 hours at The Rink…now that’s a win-win!
Great place. The greasy pizza resting under the heat lamp was perfection on a paper plate. The poor girl dashing back and forth between the snacks and the skate counter was super helpful and kind. Went on the adult 18+ night and it was cool.
I usually love skating here and come almost every weekend without any issues. But today was disappointing. As soon as I walked inside, it felt like 78–80 degrees. I was drenched in sweat just from lacing up my skates, and my daughter and I had to leave after only 30 minutes. They had a portable AC unit in the entrance, which made it feel comfortable when paying, but once inside the rink it was unbearable. There was a sign on the door saying there would be no refunds due to the heat, but it didn’t clearly state that the AC was down. The cool entrance felt misleading, and the wording on the sign made it seem like it was just “summer heat,” not a serious cooling issue. I understand things break down, but not being upfront about the situation felt predatory. I’ve always enjoyed this rink, but this experience left me really disappointed.
Brings back the nostalgia of when I was a kid. Good times and friendly staff. Fair pricing and although they don't offer birthday packages anymore, they do still allow you to bring in your own accommodations for one. On the down side, they end up playing the "happy birthday song" WAY too often, literally pretty much between every regular song was another birthday. They take song recommendations for a small fee. They have a couple arcade type games, but you have to get a game card to play which isnt really worth the hassle in my opinion. id rather have the option to use a few quarters. They did have at least one game per session, either red light green light, or the limbo, but I was disappointed that they don't seem to have a "speed skate" song anymore where they ask only experienced skaters be out there for one song. That was always my favorite part. I didn't like having to go through security with metal directors, but better safe than sorry. Very reasonable prices with long skate sessions of 2 1/2 hours with the option to extend your time for a fraction of the price. I don't know how good there rentals are because we always bring our own skates, even the kids, but they have various sized walkers which is nice for the beginners. We will surely be back again, I wonder if they offer a season pad card holder type deal? If not, they should.
