Ulna Art Studio, situé au 215 SE Morrison St Suite 2004, à Portland, propose des cours de dessin, de peinture et d'arts mixtes dans un cadre accueillant et axé sur le processus. I’m visiting from New York City, spending time with my daughter, and decided to try this drawing workshop — I’m so glad I did! What a fantastic experience. Tyler is a talented artist and a wonderful instructor, offering clear guidance and genuinely encouraging feedback. The studio owner and staff were incredibly welcoming, and the model was truly the best I’ve ever worked with. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in town. If you’re local, consider yourself lucky to have this place right at your doorstep!
I previously took a charcoal drawing class elsewhere and wanted to continue exploring it. I had an amazing experience in Cole’s class—each session focused on a different area of study, and it helped me tap into creative muscles we all have but don’t always get to use. Cole created an environment that encouraged us to experiment, be messy, and let go of perfection—something we’re rarely allowed to do in other areas of life. Not everything I drew was beautiful, but I learned to sit with the process and appreciate where I am in my artistic journey.
An inspiring and welcoming studio for a variety of art forms - drawing, painting, mixed media and more - where the ultimate emphasis is on the process, community, and expression. I went as a beginner and highly recommend to anyone wanting to try an art class!
I recently took Landscape Painting at Ulna, and it was a wonderful experience. Cole, the instructor, has a remarkable ability to cater to both beginners and more experienced artists. His demonstrations were thorough and easy to follow, providing clear guidance throughout the session. He encouraged us to follow our own preferences and to examine them, which was empowering. I left the class feeling more confident in my artistic skills and am eager to continue painting. I highly recommend this studio to anyone looking to develop their creativity in a supportive, inclusive, and well-structured environment.
I absolutely adore Ulna Studio! The teachers are so amazing and welcoming, the space feels good to be in, and the community as a whole is stellar. I think it’s a particularly good environment for people who can feel intimidated taking art classes and want a safe space to explore their creativity. I’ve taken three classes at Ulna with Lettie Jane, Jolyn and Cole and would (and maybe will) take them all over again. Can’t recommend it enough!!
