W've been looking for a tutor for our eldest daughter. Although we've not started yet, we were so impressed with James that I felt I needed to write a review. He was able to answer all our questions with ease and has given us confidence in choosing them when the time comes.
My experience with James has been nothing short of exceptional with my results significantly improving. I decided to begin tutoring with James as i was struggling with the concepts in maths, and my previous tutors did not explain the content in a way I understood. James, on the other hand, was patient and clear in his teaching, helping me to understand all general maths content which helped me maintain an A-A+ level during sacs. I improved by 15% from my first to second sac, and 20% from my first to last sac, a testament to James's dedication. He was continually punctual to meetings with his content prepared, a good communicator, and understanding of how busy year 12 was - tailoring his lesson structure and amount of lessons accordingly to my weeks. These scores could have only been achieved with James's help as he is a trained VCAA assessor, having inside knowledge into how teachers and assessors mark, especially where and how to gain those extra few crucial marks in my investigation-style sacs. After each question, he provided insightful feedback, answering any questions I had immediately over the phone, or text, even going as far as to making time for me (free of charge) the night before the General Maths Exam 1 when I was struggling with a few tricky questions. I am so thankful for everything James has done for me this year. Maths has never been easy for me, but James enabled me to get a higher study score than I could have ever dreamed.
James is an excellent tutor who uses high-quality resources and responds promptly, usually within 12 hours. He is consistently helpful and takes the time to ensure concepts are fully understood. He explains ideas in multiple ways if needed and focuses on building genuine understanding rather than relying on memorisation. His teaching style helps students grasp concepts at a deeper level, making learning more effective and engaging.
My experience being tutored by James for VCE Accounting 3/4 has been extremely positive, even though I only joined in the final few weeks before the exam. Despite the short time frame, James had a significant impact on my performance in the exam. Through his insider knowledge of how VCAA marking works, he helped me refine my exam technique and understand exactly what assessors look for in responses, for both theory and numbers questions. This helped lift my score by around 5-6 marks. James explains his concepts very clearly and patiently, breaking things down in a way that’s easy to understand and apply during exam conditions. His feedback was always specific, practical and focused on helping me gain those extra crucial marks. Additionally he marked harshly so that I am better prepared for the exam and VCAA’s marking and this directly helped me during my performance during the exam. He was also very easy to contact and always available to help and respond to questions and provide constant support right up till the exam, which lifted my confidence greatly. I honestly wish I had started tutoring with James earlier, as I’m confident I could have achieved my goal of a raw 50 study score. I would highly recommend James to any VCE Accounting student looking to maximise their score, especially those wanting insight into how marking actually works and what the exam assessors look out for in responses.
