Went here really for the vip pet care vaccines. But they have different feeds that your normal big box pet stores won't. I saw their bearded dragons and leopard geckos and they look in good health. I'd like to go back here again when I'm not carrying my kitty in a crate! I think there's a store dog (owners dog?), that is so well behaved!!

Great local business under new ownership. Wide range of pet feed and supplies with free samples too! Really good prices also. Highly recommend stopping in and supporting this local business for your pet and animal needs.
I rarely write reviews, but the new owner and service at the store today were spectacular. Despite several neighbors saying that the new store ownership is great and reading other enthusiastic reviews on our local social media FB page more than once- I still had relatively low expectations due to experiences with the old management who seemed reluctant to help at best. To give you an idea of our needs as a customer: we live on an acre plus and have a horse, cats, a dog, and quite a few chickens. I came in mainly because I was in a pinch- needing chick food and horse feed and I didn’t want to drive a half an hour with my six and three-year-old to pick it up in traffic to get it. When I walked in, I was greeted warmly and offered help immediately. The store was clean and well stocked. When I asked for items that were not in stock, the new owner immediately added them to his running list for customer “wants”. I was really impressed by the owner’s responsiveness and professionalism. Both of my kids were running around, looking at the rats, snakes, and the parrot, etc. and frankly being a little out of control since they were both way overtired and just downed chocolate croissants. (Sugar and exhaustion are a dangerous combination as any parent of young children can tell you.) The owner was extremely gracious with their “level of enthusiasm” and even joked that my three-year-old was offering himself for sale when he lay on an empty bottom shelf at one point. (It was one of those parenting moments guys. If you know, you know…) Anyway, I was excited to be able to pick up fly spray, chick probiotics and electrolytes (since I had had 2 surprise chicks hatch the night before), a new feed scoop, a large chick feeder, a chick treat ball, and a large bag of mealworms for my chickens. I felt everything was very competitively priced and displayed nicely. They had very healthy looking chicks there and it was immaculate inside the brooder. (If you’ve ever raised a lot of chicks you know the “chick smell” that sets in after like a day if that thing isn’t refilled with fresh shavings. Not a hint of that in the air. They also carry Mallard Creek triple screen shavings, which I use regularly. I had been hoping to find outgrow stable mix, and medicated chick feed, but they had only unmedicated at the time. He said he’s looking into carrying the medicated too. Since I don’t get my chicks vaccinated I feed medicated. They carried Farmers Best chicken scratch and Layer feed- which we bought. There were a surprising amount of horse related items, such as lead ropes, horse sprays, medical stuff like vet wrap & blue kote, electrolyte packs, Brushes, hoof picks, scoops and feed storage bins, and bags of pelleted horse feed. I believe they also had some hay because I saw a hay bale, but I forgot to ask about it. The owner told me she really wants to be the main ag and pet store in the area. There is definitely room for that Because otherwise you have to drive to Dixon or pay the midtown prices on 34th St. which is fine, but not ideal. Clearly, he is putting his heart into this business and wants to be a responsive business owner and member of the community. I offered to have my neighbors with goats, sheep, chickens, and horses to call in to tell him what they’re looking for so he can stock it. Overall, I was just extremely impressed by how kind he was with my two kids having the crazies and how extremely personable and responsive he was. I would highly encourage anyone who has written off the store in the past to come in and experience such rare and sincere customer service. I’d highly recommend this store and felt their prices on everything were very competitive with online stores and other pet & ag supply stores in the area. UPDATE: Oct 2025- I am still very impressed by the service I’ve received here. I received my first order of Elk Grove Stable Mix barrels (6) and I have 4 more to come pick up. They are working on delivery options and mine were delivered last week to my barn. I could not be happier with service a trip saved with 2 small kids.
The feed store is under new ownership and seems to going very well! It looks so much better in there already! Everything is stocked well and selection is so much better! They also sell feeder rats for your snakes! I get mine from them. The new owner is super friendly! Can't wait to see what he does with the place!
