I placed a store pickup order with Cost Plus World Market after receiving repeated email and SMS promotions advertising 10% off for store pickup. The messaging strongly implied same-day or near-immediate pickup. Based on that, I placed and paid for my order. The order was confirmed and charged, but I never received a “ready for pickup” notice. Around 4:30 PM, I called the Oakland store. After finally reaching someone, they looked for the order, could not find it, and told me they would fulfill it and to wait for the email. At 6 PM, I contacted customer support with my order number. Shortly before the store closed, I received a response from customer service stating that store pickup can take up to 72 hours. That is absolutely not what was advertised. If I had been told upfront that pickup could take three days, I would never have placed the order. Advertising store pickup without clearly disclosing a 72-hour delay is misleading at best and deceptive at worst. I have also repeatedly asked to be removed from their email list, which has not been respected. At this point, I just hope getting a refund is straightforward. I was charged under false pretenses, and the experience has completely eroded my trust in this company.
Poor customer service. Cashier had been very chatty and careless and forgot to bag an item. When I tried to troubleshoot with the store, they handled it with a lot of defensive ego and The "attitude tone." Yeah, they can't be bothered. It'll just be one of those things management won't really care to be mindful about with their staff.
I have been shopping at the oakland world market for 6plus years. The workers at this store are so dedicated and go over and beyond!! I love this store especially because of the customer service. I would like to give a special thanks to Kirsten in furniture!! Thank you for all the help 🙏
A tasting adventure. I saw a quote on a snack package in world market with the phrase "A tasting adventure of ....." and thought it summed up world market nicely for me. It's a good collection of foods and items from around the world i.e. Japan,Spain, Italy,Korea, etc. I love the fact that the shelf tags show the country of origin of the product being sold. The food are actually all decently priced. Yes,you could find some of the items sold here if you go to chinatown, koreatown, little italy,and so on but this place helps gather all the items in one place and I love them for that. This is a spacious store that's located near Jack London Square with a good amount of parking. When we went on the weekends recently,the parking space was about 80 percent full. It was fairly busy in the store but not too overly crowded at noon time. Besides the food,the store has a collection of home decor items and knick knacks. It's like an adult playground in there, you'll be spending your time looking at the fun and eclectic items all over the place. There's bound to be a treasure to be found by anyone walking in.
Great World Market location. There are plenty of options here from furnitures to chocolate and food from all over the world. Spacious store and kind and helpful staff. Overall, it's a great World Market location.
